I am VERY grateful to the three adults walking along the Promenade yesterday afternoon who stepped in and spoke to the Taxi driver to explain that I was on the Promenade and he was in the road on the opposite side of Hove Lagoon. More than I could do #speechimpediment

This world is a comedy to those that think, a tragedy to those that feel. Most posting to this personal account takes place on thinking days. he/him.
Am very grateful for prompt, cheerful and complete customer service from Fi**a at @NottmPlayhouse today. She has sorted out the extra I need to be able to come to the Neville Studio due to my conditions, #thanks

How prolific is my friend the writer Jane Upton. She is fire at the moment with another play opening soon. nottinghamplayhouse.co.uk/events/scene... come to think about it, I used to live in Long Eaton, so maybe, surely not, whew, the play is about people young in 1987, I was old by then
Scenes from a Friendship - Nottingham Playhouse
This world premiere by Jane Upton is a funny but deeply felt look at the bond you share with your best friend, who’s shaped your life, knows all your mistakes but loves you regardless.

Incidentally it was my aunt who sent me , in California, an Eagle annual every Xmas, along with an airfix model of the coronation coach, and the first Paddington bear book. I took it to school, my teacher was so happy she asked my mum to ask her to supply the school.
They later lived and served in Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, before a final post as ambassador to Papua New Guinea.. Throughout my Aunt has always been seen as a force of nature. Every few years they would pass through Calif en route to DC, good memories. Happy birthday Auntie!
Today my Australian aunt, living near Washington DC, widow of an USA civil servant in diplomatic corps, celebrates her 100th birthday. Their first post after marriage in London, was to Madagascar, where they befriended David Attenborough,he thanked her fo her cooking in his book.
Enough is enough. I have complained to IPSO about the racism of the Daily Mail, after seeing their article online about the Erasmus scheme allowing ‘thousands of Turkish students” to come to the UK. The first sentence refers to a “wave of arrivals from Turkey and North Africa.” Disgraceful
The news about the UK rejoining the Erasmus scheme was the first really good piece of news in the political area for some time. I look forward to the UK playing host to students from all over the continent, including Turkey, and for our students to go there.
Does anyone know of the rumours about a protest in Nottingham tomorrow 10 Nov in the evening about the cuts to university departments in particular music? #askingforafriend
How do I get the English subtitles to the Russian speech in The Americans on Disney+ when I watched on channel 4, they were automatically there. My Russian is way too rusty to keep up 😀
Thank you to the assistant in @johnlewisretail #nottingham on Friday afternoon who came out of her station as I couldn’t make myself heard, and got me a glass of water so I could take my pills

Disaster coming home, struggling to walk up road. A neighbour came, gave me her arm. But I was so worn out, sat down on kerb. She commandeered two lads walking on road who each gave me an arm. two lads are @NFFC players. Just out for a walk before tonight’s U21 match. ❤️#thanks
Just had a Covid booster. Not old enough to qualify automatically, my lymphoma makes me officially vulnerable. #thanksNHS
I keep my @EastMidRailway “I have a speech impediment” card by the front door to show to callers who are not known to me. The bloke this morning peered at it, then said: what does it say? I can’t read it without my glasses..#stalemate 😂 *managed to say: I have trouble speaking
This is Labour’s poll tax. Its tuition fees. It is - as Iraq was for Blair - the moral stain that will mark Starmer’s government and the party for years to come. Severely disabled people are going to be starved, isolated and degraded. No Labour MP who backs this will be forgiven.
Met some old friends for lunch at @BarnBerryfields today. Superb food, highly recommended
On welfare cuts, the SDLP asks Keir Starmer “What was the point of getting rid of the Tories if Labour are going to do this?” #PMQs
The Americans would be speaking English today, rather than American, if the French had not come to their aid in 1770s
Bought tickets from your website @scot for a short trip to Glasgow Central. Very disappointed that you expect me to collect paper tickets from a machine. Why not e- tickets? #askingforafriend
On the train today, a middle aged man was mansplaining to a woman that “climate change doesn’t exist “. When he told her that the “ozone layer healed itself” my wife interrupted, told him a few facts. Politely explaining basic science; woman said thanks when she left train

With the outrageous arrest of Khalil in the USA this week, am wondering if is time to rewatch the 2007 film The Visitor, which starred Richard Jenkins. I am still haunted by the closing scene.
What a wonderful experience seeing (the) Woman at @NottmPlayhouse.bsky.social this evening, thank you @NPtheatre.bsky.social, the actors, and above all, my friend Jane Upton who wrote this play. A lot to think about ❤️
Must admit to be slightly disappointed when driving home today past the Tesla showrooms in WB not not to see an anti Musk demo going on
Went to Berlin last weekend. Very grateful for helpful staff at Mobility Assistance at @berlinairport who helped me navigate bag drop, security, passport control and board the plane. My first time using this, very happy. Also grateful for help in passport control when we arrived
