⠀ ⠀⠀vincent's timing is an unintentional yobasend. sam moves his hand to hold the back of sebastian's neck, beneath the soft new fronds of hair he's grown out. from the smoke clinging to hoodie fibres to the way his eyes crinkle with a secret smile, ⠀
yeah, well, what're you gonna do. life's a bitch and then you die, right? / sometimes. sometimes life's a bitch and you keep living.
there is rain inside of me ; where to escape it?
⠀ ⠀⠀"i'm heading home to see everybody, so i won't be bothering you for long." ⠀⠀starting to walk beside her. he slows his pace a bit to keep time with her comparably smaller gait. "thanks. have i missed a lot?" ⠀
⠀ ⠀⠀practicing my surprised face. woah ! something like that . . ⠀
⠀ ⠀⠀"it wasn't, but it doesn't matter now. i'm just happy to be home." ⠀⠀adjusting the strap of his bag on his shoulder, sam takes a few steps towards town. "were you heading this way? i'll walk with you if you don't mind." ⠀
⠀ ⠀⠀sam returns it right away, squeezing tight. his hair has grown a few inches over the ten weeks basic training took, taking on a more umber tone without length & sun bleach to accentuate the blond colour. no bigger than before, but the uniform ⠀
⠀ ⠀⠀"oh—— aria ! it's good to see you." before the bus rattles off, sam waves goodbye to the driver. he lets his arm fall with a slump. "that was a long ride. i'm all stiff." ⠀
⠀ ⠀⠀"oh, sorry. you okay, dude?" ⠀⠀"no. now i'm stuck between 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩 of you." vincent wriggles out from between their bodies. he grabs at sam's sleeve. "i want a jacket just like this when i'm older !" ⠀⠀sam's smile wanes just a little. he loses interest ⠀
i only wrote this down to make you press rewind, and send a message: i am young and a menace.
⠀ ⠀⠀sam says nothing, just holds strong as the excitement & energy gradually evaporates, leaving them hugging in the meadow clearing. he'd be happy if it went on forever. ⠀⠀"sammy?" ⠀⠀blonde head lifts from dillion's shoulder. "hey, mom. hey, vincent !" ⠀
