The Met Office has issued a red warning for high temperatures this week. The library will remain open. However, opening hours may change at short notice due to travel restrictions. Please consider your health during the heatwave! It is important to keep cool and stay hydrated.

We have exciting news! Our library extension has begun. 😄 Scroll to see some of our new rooms, which all have height-adjustable desks. They are now open to readers, so feel free to use them (and maybe even choose a new favourite seat!😉).

We are pleased to announce that the library has acquired additional space to expand into: a whole new corridor with several rooms, which we hope will accommodate ten years of growth!

We have begun to relocate some of the collection. You will find numismatics, art, and the 200s in their new homes. Apologies for the disruption at this time.

Please feel free to ask a member of staff if you have any questions. Happy reading!

Announcing our new exhibition! We are celebrating the history of women working at our library. 📖 Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the exhibition, which is displayed in the library reception. There is also an accompanying blog post on our website.

A poster titled 'From Volunteers to Librarians: How Women Shaped the Library' with images of exhibition items including letters and photographs.

Did you know we have two trolleys full of books for sale outside the library? New books are added regularly so make sure to check them when you visit! Everyone is welcome to buy our books, not just library members. Come up to the third floor of Senate House to browse the selection😊

🍬It's the last day of Spooky Book Week, and this post is about Classical reception: how the ancient world has been remembered and interpreted in more recent times. It's a growing—and fascinating—subject, looking at everything from art and literature to music and video games.
