Jonathan Eron With El Sayed's win, Mike Rogers becomes a shoo in in November. I have no idea what people were thinking. El Sayed is a horrible racist and bigot. But people voted for him knowing that he had no appeal outside of the left wing of the party. Not an intelligent approach to the election.

Someone didn't think this through. If the goal was to beat Mike Rogers, alienating large parts of Michigan's Black and Jewish communities seems like an odd way to build a winning statewide coalition. Winning a primary and winning a general election are two very different things.
