Last Crusade is on Paramount followed by Raiders. Comedy Central has The Hangover. And FX has Endgame. I don’t think Collision has much of a chance tonight. I could watch later but Return of the King will be on at 10.

Krukow has been a part of my Giants fandom from the start as a player and announcer. He and Kuiper make the games fun even when the team sucks. We knew this was coming at some point but I hoped it wouldn’t come yet. The fact that he isn’t in the HOF is a joke. Kruk & Kuip need a statue at the park.

Mike Krukow has announced that this will be his final season in the booth. The end of an unbelievable 36-year run for one of the best to ever do it.

I can’t say for sure and I have no way of knowing, but I swear the squirrels in my oak tree were purposely throwing acorns at me while I was working in the backyard just now.

I just saw this headline: “This Unexpected Chain Just Beat Out McDonalds for the Third Year in a Row for the Best Fries in the U.S.” I mean, it can’t be that unexpected at this point, right?

It’s easy to hate the Dodgers (I’ve been doing it for 40 years). But don’t act like your team wouldn’t have gone to the Whitehouse if they won. It’s easy to hate the Giants for the Pride fiasco but don’t act like your team doesn’t have bigots who would write Bible verses if they had pride hats too.

Had no idea Smackdown was in Oakland tonight (I’m sure I saw it when tickets went on sale but hadn’t thought about it since). I’ve seen the most shows there as it’s the most convenient venue for me (over SJ, SF, Sacramento). Once upon a time I would’ve been there but WWE doesn’t get my money.

When I saw The Odyssey, I wore my Super Mario Brothers shirt which I thought made sense. My wife didn’t agree. But it’s about a man on a very long journey to get to a castle and rescue a woman of royal lineage. Along the way he has to like fight monsters and try to take shortcuts. It fits perfectly.

For instance, Homer was clearly unfamiliar with the Bronze Age use of chariots in battle. He knew they had them but depicts them totally inaccurately. The weapons described are a mix of Bronze Age weapons and weapons from Homer’s own time. The boats in the Odyssey are closer to Iron Age design.

I wonder if people who complain about the historical inaccuracies in The Odyssey are familiar with the fact that both of Homer’s epics are filled with historical inaccuracies. They were written centuries after the end of the Bronze Age by someone unfamiliar with Bronze Age warfare and seafare.

The Odyssey is one of my favorite books and Christopher Nolan is one of my favorite directors. Together they made one helluva movie. I understand most of the changes Nolan made to adapt it but I was a little confused with the twist that Odysseus is really Luke Skywalker’s father.

The last time I was at Marin Headlands was 1990 for the 3rd year for an overnight field trip. In the 5th & 6th grade, we spent 2 nights in this Battery while doing trust, risk & cooperation activities. It's been YEARS since the parks service has let people in and it's wrecked. But it took me back!

Spent a nice day out in Sausalito with @amezzera.bsky.social yesterday. A great town that I had never spent time in despite living less than an hour away my entire life. Also did some hiking in Marin Headlands. Beautiful views of the Bay. It's a bit rare to see this side of the Golden Gate Bridge.
