Nice day guiding WTT auction winner on my local. He was new to small stream fishing and did really well to land half a dozen fish… a kingfisher and water vole showed up to add to the proceedings.

A few days up north with my long time fishing compadre Pete. Cold downstream wind made fishing hard but we found a few. Rekindle my love for camping on fishing trips despite the frosts…

Quickie up on the local today. River in peak condition with legion of medium olives and a few mayfly starting to pop. Half a dozen juniors to 10” all on a cdc emerger save one that took a mayfly pattern.

20 minutes of heaven on one of my favourite pools. 150m up from the top of the tide and a Cornish saltwater creek and the only fishable spot on this overgrown stream. The trout are like small gemstones but fight like pounders on my 2wt glass McCarthy. #flyfishing

Last minute pivot to the Taw to spend a perfect afternoon with Pete casting to spring risers and finishing off birthday cake. All the while Monty, even at 70 (in human years), was spring loaded for the action. We ended up with 2 each, Pete landing the daddy of the bunch obvs.#flyfishing

First trip of the season. Breconshire Fishery on the Usk, just below Brecon. Steady hatch of LDOs & MBs between 1-2pm. One fish each on dries. Headed home at 3:30pm when the temp dropped.

Fantastic day up in Mid Wales. Pete found the fish I’d dropped back in April, sat in the same spot opposite the white triangular rock. Quite a moment to see it inhale Pete’s sedgehog. I got the privilege of netting duties.
