Bit of a last-minute journey to Bristol this evening after realising that I _really_ didn’t fancy a 5am start tomorrow, but now settled in my hotel + ready for a good night’s sleep before @webdevconf.com tomorrow. See you there?

We’ve got SO MUCH accessibility stuff to get angry about But it wears you down so much constantly facing barriers, we feel broken. Even the tiny barriers build up Like I haven’t even shared the shitshow of our trip to Wembley a few weeks ago

This bus stop is very recently rebuilt and TfGM seem to have forgot that someone in a wheelchair may want to use it.

At Schiphol, headed home from two excellent days at #cssday. I’m tired, my feet ache, and my throat is a little more scratchy than I’d like; but I’m leaving with a full heart and head full of odd ideas for things i want to try out. [1/2]

From the news this morning, it seems an apt time to note—once again—that a million seconds is 11½ days, a billion seconds is 31.7 years, and a trillion seconds is 31.7 _millennia_. Just in case certain news stories need putting into perspective right now…

Back at #cssday again. Excited to learn some cool new stuff in a totally safe space without any danger of flamethrowers at all. Apparently… (standard disclaimer applies: not unfriendly, just shy)

A photo of the CSSDay venue: in a converted church building, rows of chairs face a large projection screen framed with columns

“…be […] the person in the room who isn’t tired yet. Because the one thing the business model of apathy cannot survive is a roomful of people who refuse to be tired on cue.” (not sure why I didn’t share this when it was released, but now is also good #prideMonth )

In 2022 when Christian Henson of Spitfire Audio came out in support of JK Rowling and Glinner, I did a video on how that hurt the trans community and beyond. Now it's 2026 and I felt the need to revisit it, because apathy keeps winning, and it sucks www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrlS...

So apparently England has looked at what’s going on in the US and decided “yes, we want our country to be more like that”, and I can’t help suspecting Wales won’t be too far behind. Wonderful.

#voted (I’ll admit that I’m worried about the outcomes + effects of this election cycle, but… gotta do my bit, and so should you. However intolerable you may find the various parties, I guarantee apathy will be even worse. Go vote!)

Hello world 👋 I’m looking for the Next Thing: scale doesn’t matter, as long as it’s trying to make the world a better place, cuz goodness knows we need it right now! If you or anyone you know are looking for a UK-based front-end web/Elm/full-stack Ruby developer, let me know! […]

I’ve just realised that my 15 year self-employment anniversary managed to sneak by uncommented yesterday. I keep thinking that I should write about the whole thing at some point, but there’re so many folk who’ve written about it, I’m not sure what more I can add. [1/2]

Been using Apple Music a lot more after watching @jjbbllkk.bsky.social’s recent video about Spotify. Anyone know who I can harass at Apple so they actually fix the prev/next track functionality when using shuffle. Such a basic bit of UX that has been unusably broken for too long…

Creative folk who’ve ditched the Adobe stack: what’re your favourite Photoshop replacements? I’ve been trying to love the Affinity suite for about a year; Designer and Publisher are fine, but while Photo has some nice touches, I just… don’t love it. I’m curious as to what other folk are using.

Heading back home after three days cosplaying an extrovert at a trade show with/for a client. It’s been incredibly tiring but a lot of fun. Got a laundry list of things I/we want to do as a result, but first I need to lay down and not move for at least 12 hours.

20mph limits in London linked to sharp fall in road injuries and deaths, new report finds

A new study published by Transport for London (TfL) has shown that the introduction of 20mph speed limits and zones on local authority-managed roads in London between 1989 and 2013 led to significant…
