Rain! It's finally raining! In Richmond upon Thames! It won't be enough but beautiful beautiful rain on my skin 🥰

We need emergency reservoir building. I don't know the legal framework required to do so, but we are heading in the direction of water emergencies. Drought + regular consumption + new consumption (data centres?) + firefighting against wildfires = water emergency (in my opinion).
All these wildfires in Europe and North America further increasing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. Climate change and global warming fuelling global burning, fuelling more climate change and global warming.
If I had magical powers, I'd make it rain overnight at least two times a week, every week in the summer. I'd welcome occasional temperatures above 30 degrees in southern England but keep things between 22 and 27 degrees. But I'm just not being realistic.
We need: -more reservoirs to hold rainwater during the wetter months to help keep adequate supplies in the drier months. -a nationalised water supply so more income goes towards infrastructure repairs and building We don't need: -NIMBYism within councils blocking new reservoirs -Shareholders
National governments facing dry conditions and drought (including the UK) should put a temporary ban on shops and supermarkets selling disposable BBQs while also making it illegal to use bought ones during these prolonged dry conditions. Enforcement on places of cigarette disposal is needed too.
I hope Andy Burnham will be a good PM. I also hope he brings in proportional representation before the next general election rather than after (since he might not get the chance). Next GE needs to be PR - STV or better. I'm not confident he'll take us on a path back into the EU or SM though.
His Orangeness just HAD to stay in the shot with the winning team for as long as possible didn't he - hopefully he can be photoshopped out of the still photos.
Boos for two men who walked onto the pitch. One of them probably very smelly below the belt.
Congrats to Spain on defeating those unsporting bullies 👏🇪🇸🏆
Farms need water to grow food There is no rain People need water to drink and wash in There are too few reservoirs Lack of rain and lack of reservoirs to capture the Autumn and Winter rain is a recipe for food insecurity and water insecurity. We've been too late to slow climate change.
Nevertheless, congratulations to Charles Leclerc on getting back to the top step of the podium. Congrats to George Russell and Lewis Hamilton on joining him on the podium (Russell's first). Congrats to Gabriel Bortoleto on P8 for Audi. Commiserations to Kimi Antonelli. #F1 #BritishGP
Was Bernd Mayländer told to stay out in the safety car or did he make a blunder? Exciting ending denied #F1 #BritishGP
That fan trying to get Verstappen to sign his cap while Max is p*ssed off after having retired from the #BritishGP
Verstappen's out! George Russell is finally going to get a #BritishGP podium! So unexpected! Last laps are chaotic for everyone! #F1
Bortoleto and Audi managing to have a good day with Antonelli's Mercedes' troubles though. Shame Hulkenberg's Audi had to retire though. #F1 #BritishGP
Stroll just pretending he's not getting penalties - not much of a difference 5 seconds would make back there I guess #F1 #BritishGP
Whatever has failed or dislodged around Antonelli's suspension is unfortunate - I hope the car is safe enough to continue if he does try to continue. #F1 #BritishGP
HAM vs RUS is fun to watch but how much of it is caused by power "clipping"? #F1 #BritishGP
There's going to be one very embarrassed fan who caused the VSC with their umbrella #F1 #BritishGP
Was gifted a day off to watch the British Grand Prix without even asking ❤️ On TV, but still thankful. Last year I got to watch it live on my phone due to a thunderstorm halting work (outdoors, on the water). #F1 #BritishGP
My favourite films of the 2010s -Interstellar -The Martian -La La Land -Rogue One -The Death of Stalin My favourite films of the 2020s -Project Hail Mary
I watched Project Hail Mary - it made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me laugh and it made me bawl my eyes out. Possibly the most beautiful science fiction since Close Encounters of a Third Kind. Absolutely loved it! I'd like to forget I watched it and then watch it all over again.
In London this heatwave is only taking a four day break to return to normal warm temperatures before it rises back into the 30s.
Reports of power cuts due to the heatwave. I strongly advice that if you are using a computer plugged into the mains that you write a lot of data to your storage drives unless you have a highly rated uninterruptable power supply (UPS). Prioritise laptop useage. Don't do any BIOS updates.
It's happened, Starmer's out. We can only hope that Burnham doesn't f**k it up and manages keeps Reform out of government in 2029. Also nice to hear Ode to Joy in the background (Steve Bray and co presumably?) #ProportionalRepresentationNow #PRNow #RejoinEU
