They have not sat down, watched CNN for 6 hours, and then said "I like the fascism and grift! He's my guy!" They watched Fox, where he's simply not a fascist or a grifter.
Suggestion for hyperscalers feeling pressure over data center water use: Buy up a few exclusive country clubs, convert the golf courses into public parks, pay for guides and binoculars to get the previous members into birdwatching - help them embrace a more sustainable hobby!

Anyway I see the same thing happening in the Climate Doom people. There's this very visceral and convincing version of the world that they had envisioned that would require some very painful moral choices to adapt to, and it turns out "batteries + solar" are basically able to fix the problem.

True. If it’s biased or wrong in some way it can wreck things and add inefficiencies related to cleaning that later, but if it’s not biased then it’s usually information rich, accurate, dense training data. This is behind why Chinese distillation of US models is so effective.
