Kids couldn't decide who should do dishes versus laundry. I had Opus make a paper-rock-scissors style Street Fighter game starring them both, and they settled it in the streets. We live in a world where we can make ad-hoc video games, it's super fun 🤩

My hunch: If your close buttons use `.leading`/`.trailing` toolbar placements, you may need to revisit that. iOS shifts toolbar buttons to avoid the fold in some poses (makes sense!) and I wonder if `.cancellation` gives you that behavior for free.

Elite Hoops is featured all over the @AppStore for iOS 27, very awesome to see! Apple Intelligence for the smart practice builder was a perfect fit. Congrats to all featured, tons of indies which is always great to see.Eli

I had Astra watch all of the new iPhone Duo developer sessions and notate the big ideas. Of course, I'm gonna watch em all, but I wanted to get a sneak peek. If you're interested, here's what it found along with timestamps, links, and the videos: www.swiftjectivec.com/iphone-duo-...

iPhone Duo: First Developer Good-to-Knows

Several new videos dropped today covering iPhone Dou development best practices. Here’s the summary from an agent.

I have this project called CodeKeep where anytime I see a component I like, or have my own shared ones I’ve made over the years, I just put it in here. I have a skill too, so if there’s a GitHub project that has something that inspires me - an agent adds the code samples + example + link to it.

An app interface displays "CodeKeep" with options for favorites and various coding components like sliders and shaders.

And my final Elite Hoops <> iOS 27 demo to show off... By indexing all Elite Hoops content to Siri - now coaches can just ask questions and get right into the action from anywhere. No captions here, but I can asked "Hey Siri, what shooting drills can I use today in practice?"

The System Load chart has become my favorite thing in Alyx. It's just a quick glance at how my active caffeine is tending in 12 hour windows against the same time yesterday. Also, I just had a double shot :p

System Load chart displays caffeine levels over time, showing today's intake and sleep forecast effects with current load at 192 mg.

And more Elite Hoops <> iOS 27 goodness... On screen awareness! I don't have captions here, but I asked "Which of these inbound plays would work great with a tall center?" and boom, Siri tells you! Since Siri has context about each play, it can provide real, legit suggestions.

Next up for Elite Hoops <> iOS 27... Apple Intelligence now powers the Smart Practice Builder. The gains? It's about 5 TIMES faster! Using private cloud compute, and new APIs to gain context, the results not only happen faster, but they're better.

This week I'm sharing some highlights of Elite Hoops for iOS 27 🚀 First up, a brand new Live Activity. Now, coaches can run their entire practice, interactively, right from their phone. For the coaches who use the live practice feature, this takes it from good to excellent.

Pretty happy with the command bar in Elite Hoops. It searches the user's entire surface account. Designing for the web has been such a fun challenge - there's no Human Interface Guidelines for it! It's been all iOS most of my career, so figuring out what makes a great web app has been humbling.

We've got a new CLI for Superwall, and it's really good. You can query your production database in ClickHouse (read only), write queries, search App Store Connect API docs, and even review your entire Superwall integration. Our resident ace @chroxify did awesome with this!

Yeah so anyways making this performant, crisp, interruptible and interactive was not easy. That last 10%. I truly believe I've built some of the best basketball software on the planet, but less than 1% of my demo knows about it. If only I could stop building and start marketing.

Lately, I've been including interactive little widgets and "toys" in my blog posts. Just to demo a concept, liven things up...or honestly, just for fun. The last two posts have had them: 1) Demo for human-based copy 2) A fake MS-DOS terminal

✍️ New Post ✍️ One of my blindspots is writing crappy copy in interfaces. The attached image is a bit exaggerated, but like - I've written stuff just as bad 😅 Luckily, there was an awesome WWDC over this very topic: How to craft clear names for features in your app!

A mobile interface displays a calendar event for a design review, with an exaggerated button label critique alongside it.

Agents can't design. Here's what my share link feature I just launched looked like to start, versus where it ended. I'm convinced more than ever that UX and design will win more than it ever has. Everyone can ship now, not everyone can make it look and feel right.

☕️ Alyx Update ☕️ 📍Pinned drinks: Easily log drinks you typically use consume. 📈System load: Caffeine in your body, right now, against your typical baselines. And more! Coming to the App Store 🔜

Two smartphone screens display a caffeine tracking app, showing caffeine levels, system load graphs, and drink log entries.

More refinements over the weekend on native codex. I leaned into a more Tahoe-ish direction, since that's the minimum macOS target. I've been able to use it end to end, and I hope to add mission critical things this week time permitting.
