South African in Scotland. Will probably post about politics/movies/tennis/rugby/gay nonsense. https://letterboxd.com/JordanP/

this must be one of the only issues where a Labour MP could talk about affiliated unions being “captured” (and in another post approvingly share a letter published against them in the Morning Star!) without people being baffled

Dishonest! I hate this “the law hasn’t changed, we’ve just clarified what it always meant” thing. Did you think women’s rights didn’t change when the US Supreme Court merely clarified what the Constitution “always meant” on abortion? Of course not.

If you can’t recognise and take advantage of the open goal that is “my opponent is fine with neo-nazis” then you either lack killer instinct or are an idiot or both.

The thing that really grinds my gears about this is the dishonesty. The biggest implication of this guidance is that trans people will have to live their lives very differently. But they are entirely absent from this framing. You'd be forgiven for thinking this didn't affect them at all.

Our code of practice for services, public functions and associations comes into force today. It provides practical guidance on how the Equality Act 2010 applies to services, public functions and associations. Find out more: https://ow.ly/alIf50Zwrkx

Quote from Dr Mary-Ann Stephenson: 'At the EHRC we want a society where everyone’s rights are respected and realised, so that we can all live well together. Our statutory guidance will help services across the country comply with the Equality Act, protecting service users from discrimination and harassment while reducing the risk of the provider being subject to litigation.

As Britain’s equality regulator, our work doesn’t end upon publication of this guidance. We monitor compliance with the law and take enforcement action where proportionate and necessary, in line with our well-established regulatory model and decision-making framework.'

People are being extremely uncharitable about this line in particular and this sentiment in general. The movie presents a set of moral values as quite literally make or break for civilisation and then our hero defies these values in a climax that is presented as unambiguously estimable.

This passage makes me want to just log off and throw my phone in the river. The discourse on this has officially reached its end

Love the concept of writing an article for Pink News about how Jordan North’s sexuality isn’t the public’s business which features a picture of him in front of a rainbow background and which walks through multiple potentially incriminating LGBT+ interview moments www.thepinknews.com/2026/08/04/j...

Why Jordan North's sexuality – like that of all celebs – is none of your business

Jordan North is in a BBC show called The Truth About Vaping: an issue which is more important than endless speculation about his sexuality.
