Tfw I just thought of a better way to romanize ドークス from Harry Potter of all things.
My music channel didn't just appear out of nowhere; it existed solely due to Falcom's own negligence in failing to provide a proper, honest, and official alternative. It simply filled the massive void that they created themselves by neglecting and half-assing their own catalog.
20 years ago today, at 11:15 PM EST, an important milestone in VGMdb history was reached: our first album page was submitted. Full post: vgmdb.net/forums/showt...
It says something that I'm more bothered and annoyed by how there's no official way to consume all the more obscure/unreleased music and albums without botched mastering than the termination of the channel itself. And not seeing people actively protest or call out any of it.
Just like in The White Witch, the script of the original 4 is excellent because it withstands repeated, careful reading. It doesn't drown you in dialogue, has no feeling of filler, and doesn't treat the player like an idiot by spoon-feeding explanations for every little thing.
It's rather baffling that most people can't think for themselves and that I actually have to spell this out, so I'll just say this: The most likely reason they took down the channel is simply because it was getting too big and they had no proper control over it.
I don't know why people keep parroting that Falcom restricts employee fame to prevent "talent poaching" when most people resign within a year or two of joining. This is evident to anyone who has bothered to check their staff rolls; Falcom lets people go very easily.
Just remembered that because no OST albums for Brandish 4 and RINNE have ever been released, and the games' Wave files themselves were restricted to save disc space, their music is still stuck at 22 kHz. Thanks again for nothing.
I don't have a problem with preference. I have an issue with the lack of care in that preference and said preference being called a conclusion. I don't stand for lies and dishonesty.
You'd think this recent incident was what killed any last drop of goodwill I had left for current Falcom, but it was actually becoming deeply familiarized with the original The Legend of Heroes IV. That's what did it for real.
I'm actually quite okay with wanting to support official channels, and I wouldn't mind this whole fiasco if Falcom actually had all their music available through legal means. In fact, that would be great. The real problem is they don't, and frankly, they do a terrible job at it.
I don't use Spotify; I actually like paying the artists I enjoy listening to.
Hina Aoki's agency had nothing to do with this. I'd appreciate it if people didn't make things up or try to shift the blame. Every single vocal Falcom song has always been outsourced, ever since the '80s.
I suppose me trying to translate an old game from 1996 that's been de-canonized, ignored, and replaced with a version that thoroughly bastardized it is a copyright violation and I should stop. Oh, and whose MIDI soundtrack has still never received an official album release.
Reminder that refusing to properly credit staff is a form of abuse.
There's something highly ironic about getting lectured on copyright by a company that shamelessly plagiarized art from Ultima III.
Regarding the recent removal of certain songs on Falcom Music Channel: Falcom has issued a copyright takedown notice against the 9 most-viewed uploads on the channel. This counts as two strikes. If another one is issued within 90 days, it will permanently terminate the channel.
