Why yes, internet, I’d be happy to overshare. He/Him

Sam Raimi’s SEND HELP has a tiny moment where Linda Little watches Survivor 47, and I’m a big enough Survivor fan that immediately I was like “oh so this takes place between September and December of 2024.”

Apropos of nothing: Someone can suck, or do a bigotry and not be “literally Hitler” and if you think the line for calling someone out is them being “literally Hitler” that says a lot more about you than it says about us.

Ugh. Folks: we can criticize Ken Jennings. He’ll survive. “You’re acting like he’s Trump or something”, “save it for someone who’s causing real harm”, etc. No one is calling him Trump, and it’s necessary to call out your own side for falling short. He did transphobia, and he’s criticized.

For the record: we all have to decide what evil we interact with and to what degree. We have smartphones and streaming services, and take Ubers, etc. The issue isn’t Ken Jennings having the fucking app. The issue is that instead of giving a thoughtful response, or even ignoring it, he bullied.

Look, I’ve seen Ken grow and admit causing harm and change in the past. And I hope that happens here. But damn, this response really bums me out. If you don’t get why this is bad, imagine if he responded this way to any other marginalized person this way.

This may be true of others but I actually got express permission from the trans community to keep NYT games and recipes. I also have a news subscription, which is arguably worse, so I had to specifically send in a written request. Took 30 days but I got approved.

There needs to be a study done on how people will just pick the thing they just *know* to be true and defend it loudly, even when it’s demonstrably untrue or harmful. And how many people from marginalized ppl groups will shout “stop talking over us” while talking over other marginalized folks.

Feels super weird/gross to watch this overwhelming outpouring of love and grief for Glen Hansard from lefties without anyone acknowledging his relationship with Marketa Irglova and the potential grooming of it all. I know it’s more complicated than that. But still.

Considering how many black people I’m seeing calling out Emily Wilson’s review of the Odyssey film for problematic portrayal of race, I’d like to see a lot fewer white “allys” elevating their voices to wholesale defend her.

I don’t have to make a statement about the intention behind Andy Serkis’ comments regarding The Hunt for Gollum. It doesn’t matter. I’m not trying to cancel him. And intentions are irrelevant to harm done. He made an incorrect statement that fuels attacks on people of color. Accidental or not, ew

I just had someone comment on a post on TikTok to tell me the term “transgenderism” is not politically correct. But they blocked me for using it. I tried googling and it didn’t help. I’m a trans ally and I was not aware it was bad? Can someone please explain? Not sure what term to use.

Republicans sharing a Brad Paisley song thats satire and he doesn’t sing anymore because folks don’t understand it, is the most infuriating thing. He’s liberal. The song is a joke. You just suck.
