Some kind of librarian. Reader and watcher of art films, gutter trash, and other sordid tales.

Finally got around to watching Spring Night, Summer Night (thx @kanopy.com) Like a southeastern Ohio Cassavetes movie, with hillbilly music, sad cigarette smoking, and salt-added beer. The town's miserable. Everybody's miserable. Reminds me so much of growing up there 😂

Black and white image of a man and a woman sitting beside a creek. It's a film still from Soring Night, Summer Night

Watching Bergman's Brink of Life was definitely a choice to watch for Mother's Day. A psychological minefield in a Swedish maternity ward. Stark and heavy and harrowing.

Black and white image from the film Brink of Life. Bibi Andersson looks over a room divider in a maternity ward. She looks confused/sad.
