Digger isn't getting great reviews but I freaking loved it. Takes one of the biggest swings I have seen in a movie in a long time and whether or not you like it hinges on whether or not that big swing works for you. It worked for me. If you have any interest at all, see it before things get spoiled.
Walking Dead and the assorted spinoffs. I stopped watching the original show not long after Andrew Lincoln left... and even then I thought it had already gone on far too long.
Name a tv show that went on way too long.
Watching Cheers... and wait... I know that voice... holy shit... its Batman.
Where are all the Trekkies tonight? They are showing Space Seed and Wrath of Khan together and the theater is barely half full.
I don't normally go in for the novelty popcorn buckets... but come on... how could I not?
Favorite first time watches of August 2026
It is a hard decision... but it is always going to be Spock
Name your fav star trek character.
Q&A with Steve Buscemi following screening of Trees Lounge (1996) at Nitehawk Cinema.
They've gone out of there way to make it as bland as possible because any time they tried to actually say anything, the loudest part of the fan base cried about it being "woke", and for some reason that is the part Paramount listened to.
It's something I've definitely complained about before. Why aren't we getting Star Trek stories pertinent to climate change, immigration, biodiversity, vaccinations, authoritarianism, AI, personal data privacy, misinformation, hate speech, shootings, corruption, wealth inequality, extinctions…
Are we sure this isn't the Asylum mockbuster knock off?
New trailer for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ In theaters December 18
Q&A with director Stanley Kwan following screening of the new 4K restoration of his film Center Stage (1991) at Film Forum.
Favorite first time watches of July 2026
Q&A with Kiyoshi Kurosawa following screening of his new film The Samurai and The Prisoner at @ifccenter.bsky.social.
I feel like some trekkies watch Wrath of Khan with their eyes and ears closed. The number of "Kirk didn't know he had a son" takes I'm seeing are nuts.
Q&A following screening of Christine (2016) with director Antonio Campos, writer Craig Shilowich, and actors Rebecca Hall, Tracy Letts, and Timothy Simons, moderated by Jeremy O. Harris.
Upcoming movie theater plans for the next few weeks. I'm sure I'll work a few more in as well.
I mean, I actually love many of the different verison of A Christmas Carol that I've seen. This is gonna be a hard no from me though. Also the tag line “Before he was Scrooge, he was Ebenezer" just makes no sense. That's just his full name...
First poster for ‘EBENEZER’, a new film based on ‘A Christmas Carol’ starring Johnny Depp. “Before he was Scrooge, he was Ebenezer”
The Thunder Rolls (well, at least in the longer version of the song)
Name a song where someone dies/is murdered.
Have a hard time choosing a favorite between these two. Love them both.
Name your fav James Bond.
Made the mistake of giving Alamo one more chance... and what do ya know, terrible experience. Not just the mobile ordering. There were projection issues and sound issues. At least they had the masking curtains aligned properly this time, I guess.
Q&A with director Lizzie Borden following screening of her film Born in Flames. She was awesome. Could listen to her talk about filmmaking and the need for revolution all day.
A couple new pieces from my 2026 collection. I probably should start making something other than mugs, but they are good practice.
Favorite first time watches of June 2026: Tampopo (Jūzō Itami, 1985) Eat Drink Man Woman (Ang Lee, 1994)Heroes for Sale (William A. Wellman, 1933) I Love Boosters (Boots Riley, 2026)
Q&A with director Mary Harron and Lili Taylor moderated by filmmaker Nancy Savoca following screening of I Shot Andy Warhol (1996) at IFC Center.
I am of two minds on where they should go from here with Doctor Who: 1. Find some new young, talented writers who grew up watching the 2005-now era and give them the reigns. 2. Or... call J. Michael Straczynski.
