Beyond 250: Where Do We Go From Here? Maybe it’s time for a major national month-long convention organized by right, center, & left NGOs, widely covered by all networks & media, with hundreds of workshops and some sort of White Paper or Conference Summary presented to Congress. Change is essential!

Just released my 10th original country song and video, ‘A Toast to My Family Tree.’ It’s a song about life, family, and raising a glass to the people who came before us. Hope you enjoy it. tinyurl.com/52wb64kt

A TOAST TO MY FAMILY TREE

Written by Jeff Dauphin, Music and vocals by AI A modern country song about life, its complications, and how we're just part a small part of our family tree LYRICS VERSE 1 I'm sittin' at a bar lookin' at my beer Thinkin' 'bout life and all the years Where I've been and where I'm goin' The roads I've walked, the way I've grown The loves I've lost, the dreams I've known And wonderin' how long this ride goes on CHORUS Life is strange and nobody knows The ups and downs and where it all goes Come and have a drink with me And let's make a toast to my family tree VERSE 2 We love, we cry We watch loved ones say goodbye Plan if you will, to your heart's content But somewhere life always gets bent One day you're sure, the next you're confused Startin' all over, startin' anew CHORUS Life is strange and nobody knows The ups and downs and where it all goes Come and have a drink with me And let's make a toast to my family tree VERSE 3 We meet new people along the way Some stay awhile, others fade away We climb our mountains and bear our scars We chase our dreams and reach for stars Good times and bad, they all pass through Leavin' little pieces of me and you CHORUS Life is strange and nobody knows The ups and downs and where it all goes Come and have a drink with me And let's make a toast to my family tree BRIDGE Then there's the smiles Those little moments that make it worthwhile The kids runnin' and jumpin' free Laughin' like the world was meant to be They have the secret but can't explain Not worryin' 'bout tomorrow's pain FINAL CHORUS Life is strange and nobody knows The ups and downs and where it all goes We think it's all so important, and for awhile it is But we're all just passin' through like the ones before us did So raise your glass and look around The answers aren't always meant to be found There were lots of lives before you and me And there'll be more when we're gone, you'll see So let's have a drink, and it's all on me Let's make a toast to our family tree Let's make a toast to our family tree

Law Day is a national observance on May 1 dedicated to  celebrating the rule of law & upholding constitutional principles. Interestingly, Congress, led by Republicans, refused to act on one of its most significant legal requirements under the law to authorize or disapprove the war in Iran.

IMPEACHMENT: Democrats should introduce an existing impeachment resolution as a discharge petition. This may be the only way to get a floor vote on impeachment of Trump. The 25th Amendment process won't work. A discharge petition might receive 218 votes and/or force a Privileges vote within 2 days.

EXIT COALITION: 50+ lawmakers are not seeking reelection in 2026. A unique opportunity for independent judgment, guided by principles, to be used to change a terribly broken system, or simply allowed to pass, quietly, on the way out the door. jpmcjefferson.substack.com/p/the-exit-c...

The Exit Coalition: A Bipartisan Chance to Defend the Institution

In the year marking the United States Semiquincentennial, dozens of members of Congress—from both parties—will quietly make a consequential decision: they will not return.

IRAN: Schumer & Jefferies should issue a joint statement calling all Democrats & all Republicans who think Trump's intentions on Iran are war crimes to return to DC for immediate impeachment & conviction consideration & support for refusal of military orders for war crimes.

“We the People,” outside of Washington, DC, know our government is not working. For decades, Americans have said they want leaders who work together, confront problems honestly, & make decisions that respect both sides of a political argument and push the country forward. That's what I write about.

Will the Democratic Party Have the Courage to Lead? Breaking the cycle requires something counterintuitive: a willingness by the majority party to share elements of its authority in order to make that authority more functional and more durable. jpmcjefferson.substack.com/p/will-the-d...

Will the Democratic Party Have the Courage to Lead?

As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, the condition of its governing institutions presents a paradox.

Is There A Will To Change: Polling consistently shows that Americans are far more satisfied with their own lives—typically in the range of 80 to 85 percent—than with the direction of the country, which often falls between 15 and 20 percent. jpmcjefferson.substack.com/p/is-there-a...

Is There a Will to Change?

In towns and neighborhoods across the country, cooperation is not an abstract ideal—it is a daily reality.

CONGRESS? Can you imagine any other occupation or company that was facing a crisis management situation on multiple fronts, where the key leaders could simply check out and take a 2-week vacation? The answer is "No!" Only the U.S. Congress!

Once again, POTUS has twisted the law & rules to suit his fancy & decided to pay TSA employees after letting them suffer for 40+ days. Seems like he should use his dictatorial powers to pay FEMA and Coast Guard employees also. Who needs Congress when you have a King?
