🇨🇦 retired minister, musician, still eager to learn stuff

Easily a majority, or close to all, of advice/how-to reels begin with “People are always asking me …” or some variation thereof. I wonder if it’s all the same folks desperate to know how to cook an egg, or be a world-class pooper.

The reckoning to come certainly has to do with what to do with the perpetrators of outrageous crimes, but also with the reality that none of it can be dismissed as anomaly. No one dare say, “Let’s just move on.”

In church leadership I used to say that all ministries are interim-ministries. Public leadership needs to recognize the same: It is to build on the past, prepare for the future. Anything else is bogus, possible downright evil.

The Apple series, Star City, has contraband vinyl of Burton Cummings/The Guess Who with Undun (“when she found out she couldn’t fly…”) being danced to by the spouse of a cosmonaut. Classic Canadian rock in something about Soviet/American rivalry.

I remember the height of the Cold War, when people would ask, “It’s bad enough now, what if there were to be an American president who turned out to be insane?” Answer was typically, “Don’t worry, it won’t happen, and there are safeguards.”

So your friend lives in Toronto, but you aren’t supposed to pronounce the second t, does that make them a Torononian? Asking for someone who lives in Atlana. And is it Lake Onario?
