Neuroscientist. Group Leader in the Brain Circuits and Behavior Lab at IDIBAPS, Barcelona. Interested in decision making, working memory and reinforcement learning. Fascinated by animal behavior.

The barccsyn.org community in Barcelona is organizing a nice FENS Satellite (Sun 5.07). Check the great speakers that will present both experimental and modeling work. And remember: you can bring your poster. If you want to (finally!) understand how the brain works 🥸, come and find out. #FENS2026

A few years ago we dreamed about having an automated system in which our animals could live in and train on any behavioral task 24/7 w/o any human intervention. Today, we are very happy to share the Training Village (TV), an open system that can be used to train mice/rats in almost any task (1/4).

I am very excited to share my first preprint🎉 The pandemic kicked off strongly during the first year of my PhD, and I had to stop the behavioral experiments when mice were starting to understand the task. At the BCB Lab, this showed us that training automation could be a real game changer (🧵1/10)

🚨Excited to share my first @biorxivpreprint.bsky.social🚨 with the amazing Smith lab, @jbarbosa.org and Albert Compte who made this work possible. We show that 🐒prefrontal hemispheres combine redundancy (for precision) & weak connections (for capacity) for supporting spatial working memory (WM). 1/🧵

This is very brave! Thanks Avner Wishnitzer for speaking up. I wonder what your colleagues, our colleagues, in Israeli academic institutions think about this. "Ask about Gaza, speak about Gaza, oppose the killing. Choose life." www.pressenza.com/2025/07/one-...

One day they will tell what happened there

Really happy to see this is out. 👏👏 Great team effort, from a couple of generations from 2 labs. I love how this fine understanding of the motor responses was possible thanks to some of our previous work carefully dissecting other aspects of the task (i.e. history effects and RTs). More to come! 🎉
