ONE NIGHT ONLY is very silly and ridiculous, but I found it charming if you’re willing to give yourself over to the premise. The episodic structure gets tiresome at a point, but Barbaro and Turner have enough charm to keep one invested. Disposable but entertaining enough.
I was already nervous about the new Brendan Fraser Mummy film feeling like desperate nostalgia bait, and bringing Kevin J. O’Conner back seems to all but confirm that.

Movie is bad and he’s barely in it, but damnit, he’s still hot as hell when he shows up.

Really sad to hear about the passing of Chuck Russell. The Mask and Dream Warriors are so much fun. But The Blob is absolutely incredible. Took very silly material and made it genuinely frightening. RIP to a great one.
I'll be honest: it's hard not to see this year's Venice lineup as underwhelming. But I'm choosing to be optimistic and view this as an opportunity to make discoveries. My favorite at last year's fest wasn't on my radar initially. Hopefully great cinema still awaits.
