Retired family man, enjoy birdwatching & all wildlife. Music, & gigs also make me happy.
A particular favourite butterfly of mine in the Montes Universales has to be Mother-of-Pearl Blue. Neither flashy nor commonplace, it's got a lot of subtle charm - every encounter with one feels special, like a bit of a blessing.
BUBBLES will be in concert at Edinburgh College of Art/Wee Red Bar on Sat 19th Sept, appearing as special guests of Mackenzies. The Great Leap Forward will be on stage first shortly after doors open at 7pm. Noise Annoys!! TICKETS: wegottickets.com/f/21717 Photo: Gavin Fraser
I feel a little guilty posting these record shots of Spanish Ibex, taken from my room, as they were not seen by anyone else in the group, i prefer sharing. Thankfully everyone saw at least one of the feral Goats. 😉
As well as amazing scenery, historic buildings, amazing butterfles, i was lucky to see a few Dragonflies, any help with ID's would be greatly appreciated. I am happy with beautiful dem, golden ringed & Red-veined darter. #spain #dragonflies #Montesinternationals
12/8/26 #Spain - My first total solar #eclipse and hopefully not my last! An absolutely mindblowing experience and a joy to share with the great company of my good friends at @mariposanature.bsky.social and guests
Well yesterday i did my Aug WEB's count as i was still too shattered to do it on Sunday. It was a really good count at Lochgelly, with large numbers of birds & a few small Tortoishells. I was happy to locate the long staying Lesser Scaup but it was hard work amongst over 300 Tufted. #birds
Some images of our base for the Mariposa Butterflies & Eclipse tour in the glorious Montes Universales, the incredible Albarracin. ❤️
Today is my 1st full day back from an incredible trip to spain (thank you Mariposa).❤️ So there was a Cattle Egret in N/E fife at Morton Lochs reserve, only the 3rd record & one i hadn't seen in the Kingdom. #birds #birdingFife

Tree Pipit numbers starting to build up as we head into their peak passage month of August at Ferry Hills. Best count so far 48 on 31/7/26 but hopefully some 3-fig counts to come.
Went to St David's harbour, Dalgety Bay, late on yesterday, in the hope of a few Skua's, 1st scan & 2 then 3 Arctic Skua's (one ad & a couple of dark juvs), result. A few more scans & I picked up a superb Cory's Shearwater, watched it on & off for 55mins before lost to view heading east. #Birds
Had a fine afternoon walk at Carlingnose Point, N. Queesferry in very warm & calm weather, yesterday . At least two Holy Blue's & lots of gulls & terns feeding high up, on flying insects. #Northqueensferry #butterflies
My pal Chris McGuigan who lives near the Bow of Fife sent me an image of a Dragonfly in his garden. It was a Migrant Hawker, which i believe is very rare in Fife. So i went & had a look & it was still present this evening. #dragonfly #fife @britishdragonflies.bsky.social

Had a lovely walk with George this morning at Inverkeithing, most B-L Helleborine were over butI was pleased to see several Yellow Bird's-nest. The butterflies were great & especially the Holy Blues. Smart fungi beside the path were also grand. ❤️ #Inverkeithing #plants #butterflies.
Yesterday a friend & I tried to see some Honey Buzzards in P&K & we were rewarded with a few long flights, sadly no images. We also saw & a fine Comma & a few Purple Hairstreat & large White butterflies. #butterflies
Probably my last orchid shots from 2026, more Broard-leaved Helleborines in Dunfermline on Monday evening. #dunfermline #orchids
