Fighting for people & the planet 🌍 Home means Nevada 🎰☀️

As electricity bills rise, I’m holding data centers accountable while Joe Lombardo is “wholeheartedly in support” of them. Nevadans deserve a Governor who is focused on lowering costs — not padding data centers’ pockets.

Joe Lombardo handed data center companies $200 million of Nevadans' tax dollars — and never bothered to check if we got anything in return. Meanwhile, he's pocketed nearly $2 million in campaign cash from those same companies, the ones driving your costs through the roof.

State lawmakers have had little opportunity to get involved with the demand charge, which was proposed by NV Energy after the 2025 Legislative Session ended and is scheduled to go into effect Jan. 1, before the next regular legislative session convenes. Given a chance Tuesday, they demurred.

Lombardo’s wildly unpopular stance as a data center cheerleader presents Ford an opportunity to distinguish himself on what has emerged as one of the most high-profile issues this election year. So far, Ford hasn't grasped that opportunity, but that might be changing. Commentary:

“There’s a big difference between the federal space and the local space, right? And when we talk about affordability and inflation rates and everything, I can’t control that,” said Lombardo, who rode to his first term victory largely by pummeling Dem Gov. Nevadans are concerned that Joe Lombardo is supporting NV Energy’s demand charge because the big utility company is one of the biggest donors to his campaign. I share this concern. That’s why I’m in court right now suing to end the demand charge and keep that money in Nevadans’ pockets.

Joe Lombardo’s campaign is being bankrolled by NV Energy, so it’s no surprise he supports your energy bills going up. As Governor, I’ll appoint Public Utility Commissioners who are focused on lowering costs — not raising them.
