RE: the last screenshot, on Doug Burgum: It's worth noting that Burgum ended up being the point man in Trump's war against wind power, and so had to get comfortable blatantly and publicly lying to do that. Once you start getting comfortable with it, future instances become easy.

It's funny that Jeanine Pirro brought a box of evidence to WH to persuade Trump. He wants her to consciously *throw out* exculpatory facts and *knowingly* prosecute innocent people. So facts can't persuade him by definition. Me and @barbmcquade.bsky.social on this: newrepublic.com/article/2139...

Beyond the racism, I'd add that on things like climate change, election results, and COVID, they're almost certainly selecting for people willing to reject objective reality. They are actively anti-intelligence.

Outside the low end, e-bikes now come with torque and cadence sensors, so they know exactly what your legs are doing. So, it was no surprise when a bike I reviewed recently flashed an alert on its display telling me it thought I belonged in a different gear.

Very much this. So many on the right know a lot of what's going on is wrong on fundamental levels, and their response to anything that reminds them of that—the press, science, good behavior in general—is anger. They're transgressing, they know it, and they can't deal with being reminded.

The venom aimed at Fauci has no logical connection to anything he’s actually done. He’s a public figure in politics widely admired for being knowledgable and basically decent in a way that makes the sort of person who loves Trump feel resentful and inferior.

This is exactly what I run into with conspiracy theorists — a stray, unverified claim gets treated as if it debunks the real story, and it almost always falls apart under scrutiny. Wild to hear that pattern showing up at 60 Minutes as Cecilia Vega describes it.

The EU, kind of annoyingly, managed to hit 49.9% renewable electricity in 2025. Norway already produces so much it's exporting the excess, and a dozen countries have cleared the 50% mark.
