Winter Fare The #BirdOfTheDay theme set by Alan is #RedOrDead, any bird with red in the capture but not on the bird or a photo of a bird on bare winter branches. This #Redwing covers both. Description in alt. #birds #photography #ECK #BirdPhotography

A redwing amongst the branches of a crab apple tree. The branches are bare except for the remaining red fruit. The back drop is green and brown a mix of deciduous and evergreen trees. Across the bottom of the image is the top of a pergola, it wasn’t placed there for the purpose but does work well to support the branches when they’re laden with fruit. The bird on the bottom right third, quite small in the picture but the hole image tells the story without the need for the bird to be more prominent.

All my images of birds are quite new as I only begain photographing them at the start of the year :-)

A mallard on the Cromford Canal. The bird is mid way up the image and fairly central. It has a clear reflection and a gently wake behind it. The top of the image is the canal side, at this point its blocks of stone with a little moss growing on them. The water is very still.

A portrait orientated image of an exhibit in Chatsworth overlooking the grand painted hall. The exhibit is an 18 century baby carriage. It was designed around 1733 by the architect William Kent for the children of the third Duke of Devonshire. It’s extremely ornate and considered one of the earliest precursors to the modern. It stands on one of the balconies that overlook the hall from each corner.

It reaches across to just beyond the centre of the image and here sits the ship, apparently floating on luminous blue water, the blue is from lights around the waterline of the ship. Harbour lights run across to the right from the ship on the midline. The mast reaches up to the top of the image. Other than the mast the rest of the image is black with night.

These four images are for the bird of the day challenge, which is four photo with 1, 2, 3 and 4 birds of the same species in each. Mine are all landscape orientated images of Siskin. This one has a Siskin taking flight from a branch.

Here we have two Siskin one on a seed feeder the other in flight approaching it. The background is all foliage.

Now three birds and the seed feeder. Two are on the feeder the third is in flight approaching from the left.

And finally four birds, three on the feeder, the fourth flying away to the right.

Three fledgling blue tits on a bird bath. The bath sits under the canopy of an acre in the garden. We can’t see the tree but we can appreciate the dappled shade it casts. The backdrop is green foliage. The bath fills much of the frame. It is on the left and cut off down this side. It’s clam shaped, quite old with lichen and moss on its outer edges. One bird is perched on the front on the bottom left third, another is on the back of the bath to the right of the first bird and has its feet in the water. The last bird is on the far right of the bath, again perched on the edge mid way up the frame, and so they form a pleasing triangle. The bird at the back is reflected in the water.

A landscape orientated image taken in Chatsworth garden. We’re on a path approaching a cluster of rhododendron shrubs on either side of it. They have grown up to intertwine over the top of the path forming an arch/tunnel. I’m up close to them as I take the photo so they fill the entire frame. It’s autumn and leaves from other trees we do not see lay on the grounds under the shrubs. The path goes under the rhododendrons and disappears to the right.
