Retired teacher; I keep busy between gardening & my 2 rescue pups. I have 1 foot in very blue California and the other in very red Idaho. In Idaho I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone.

RIP: My Dear Helen I'm so very distraught that I can't respond to posts right now. Hug your dog (or kitty) tonight and tell them that you have it from a credible source, that Helen was the very best pup in the whole world.

#ColorfulMonday #QuiltSky "Thinking Outside The Block" is Kathleen Crittenden's first experience with improv quilting. She took a class at Back Porch Fabrics that used a book named: Thinking Outside The Block. It looks like she is a very good student. (Back Porch is a real nice shop.)

#RubySaturday #QuiltSky The National Quilt Museum in Nebraska thinks that this quilt was made in Missouri at some time in the 1940s. The red pegasus logo was used by the Magnolia Petroleum Co. These banners hung in the gas station and this one was repurposed for this quilt.

#FridayPurple #Quiltsky "Portal Fantasy" is by Adrienne Haik, a California quilter. Adrienne took a Clamshell/Curves class, to learn a new technique. This quilt (only her 6th quilt ever) was the product from that class. As she worked on it she imagined going down a rabbit hole, portal.

#ThursdayGreen #QuiltSky The National Quilt Museum in Lincoln, Nebraska calls this quilt "Rattlesnake/Snake Trail" quilt. They think it was made in the 1940s in Alabama. The material used for the quilt was salvaged from "cloth commodity bags," grain food sacks.

#SundayYellow #QuiltSky Guess Who? This was Elisa Stewart's first quilted portrait. I think she found her niche. This Bowie quilt was made for her husband who has found inspiration through his music. "His Fearless Hero" was also done in appreciation of the support she got re: her new hobby.

The other day: I had lunch at a friend's house. And I questioned her huge collection of maracas. Well, they aren't maracas, they are darning eggs. I'll attach some pictures. This is about 20% of her collection.

#PinkWednesday #QuiltSky Jacqule Rossiter made this quilt that she named "Pinkerville Starburst." The name reflects all the Tula Pink fabric in the quilt. At a retreat she discovered that several women wanted to make the same pattern. So they supported each other through each star.

#SundayYellow Pop Art comes to Quilting This quilt was hand made in Ohio around 1970. The quilter is unknown but the quilt is called "Band-aid." It's a amusing variation of a bowtie pattern. I'll add a few close-ups.

I haven't posted quilts lately because the icon to post a picture doesn't show up on my page. Is anyone else having this problem?

#PinkWednesday #QuiltSky This is "English Cottage Garden" by Rachel Leeman-Munk. Rachel took an Interleaves Workshop in 2024 from mel Beach. This quilt was born at that workshop. She followed her own instincts and made strips out of patterned fabric instead of holding one solid.
