Got this for my wife for Christmas. We've been playing a bit of it - heaps of fun and quite a challenge. It is billed as "every move you make is a trade off where you have to give something to your opponent" - no move is ever safe or easy. Both simple and complex and really good fun.

The box of the board game "The field of the cloth of gold". A bright yellow box with black text and a stylised dragon icon. The components of the board game "The field of the cloth of gold". Little cardboard squares and a game board. The box lid and components of the board game "The field of the cloth of gold".

Today we had 6 different #ttrpgs running at Neon Brisbane 2026, now in its third year running. Although this was smaller than prior years, we all had a great amount of fun! A great free event for locals - we had both old hands plus a few people who had never played a tabletop RPG before!

Crash investigator: what happened here? Uniformed police: looks like this guy was just walking along the street in full plate with a shield and the car just hit him! Crash investigator: ahh yes, I've seen this before. We're looking for a lowered Thaco, probably a 2027 model.

A poster which indicates that Vietnam is going to have its second car brand launch in 2027, named the "Thaco".

I knew this would become a thing. Blood Blowl (aka the greatest game ever made) is back in my house - the kids are loving it and so am I. Realised that we have about 8 or 9 teams, including all my very very old teams. Going to start a family league. They are all busy painting miniatures.

My eldest boy and I setting up for a game of Blood Bowl using the new 2025 rules and pitch. Kids painting at the dinner table. It's thankfully covered with a thin vinyl sheet to save the table surface.

Today I got to speak at the Ipswich Creators Summit on tabletop games and then after with a few local creators we ran demos and playtests all afternoon and introduced new people to tabletop games. I talked about the power of community and collaboration in the art of making board games and #ttrpg

My face in selfie next to my slide entitled "from play to practice - creativity in tabletop gaming".

Over on a discord server, the question was posed: "If GURPS is lego, your favourite system is..." My response: "If GURPS is lego, Apocalypse World is going down the creek and hitting each other with sticks." What's yours?

Have I ever told you that I believe Blood Bowl fourth edition is the best game ever made (yeah go on...) I'm thinking of making the move to the 2026 edition of the game. Any thoughts on that matter? Is it good? Should I fear it? Should I just keep playing the classic "living rules" with my kids?

Good News Everybody! We're close to finalising the Neon Brisbane 2026 game lineup! Which ones most interest you? What are you keen to play? How on earth are you going to decide what to play!? FREE tickets will be ready in a week or so... NOTE: These are a teaser, not final. GMs check your emails.

Oppian Wives #ttrpg is smashing along now I've cleared some mental hurdles. Need to validate art truly is public domain, and formatting things. Art will have HEAVY mods, these are classical paintings to be messed with. Rules bits by me, then Tory does her bits in the ancient history / background.
