With steam, heat, and rhythm in the backseat of the car An adolescent perspective projecting life's forecast to the stars You heard 'love' from the lips And were rapt by the hips The promise was eternal, but you couldn't see that far!

"Some say love is a burning thing, that it makes a fiery ring Oh, but I know love as a fading thing Just as fickle as a feather in a stream See honey, I saw love, you see it came to me It put its face up to my face so I could see Yeah then I saw love disfigure me Into something I am not recognizing"

"Leave me here, let me go I'm only here to feed mosquitoes Only skin, only blood A little less now than there was" There's a balance in all of us between cynicism and joy. You get worn down, you get disappointed - but whoever you are, don't sand your humanity flat. Love the people around you.

A friend shared this song with me tonight while talking about music that moves us. And it moved me. Over and over many setting suns I have run, I have waited for the rain to come When through that mist, I see the shape of you And I know, and I know that I'm in love with you

We are cycles. Everything has a beginning and an end. We mourn and are mourned, celebrate and are celebrated. "No, I'm not afraid To disappear The billboard said "The End of Near" I turned around There was nothing there Yeah I guess The end of here"

We've all got those pieces inside of us that we dislike, even hate. Do we bury them and pretend they don't exist, or do we face them head on? And if I go digging, I'll never stop Fossilized nightmares in every spot Ancient pottery filled with fault And the negative space that held my soul

Have you ever felt like you *had* to do something so urgently it felt like life and death? What is your will compared to a mountain, a god of fire and destruction, that's existed for thousands if not millions of years? Follow the Flame, or Follow Your Death.

Sometimes the only person who can stop you from hurting is yourself. Sometimes you've gotta take a deep breath, and say goodbye like you mean it, even when you're afraid.

My favorite Talking Heads song changes from time to time, depending on my mood and if I get tired of one or another. But This Must Be the Place is almost always near the top. It's nostalgic to hear this song, with all the bittersweet notes that implies. Take care to not get lost in the past.

Ever been head over heels for somebody? Like, the kind of feeling where your breath catches in your throat when you try to speak to them. Where your legs feel weak when you're around them. When they touch you it's electric, and when you kiss it's a supernova. Yeah. This song's about that.

Yes, I am a DEVOted follower. A pioneering band that influenced most of music today. I have an ex whose favorite band was Devo, so I got some good exposure to them back then. I've always connected with punk and New Wave, so Devo just made sense. They're more than just "Whip It", way more! :)

This cover is dedicated to @jukefonx.bsky.social They brought this song back into my active consciousness, so I decided to cover it. I hope that it's a decent attempt and that everyone enjoys it.
The Postal Service was a tremendous influence on a ton of folks when this album came out. I think the "lovesick love song" is one of the motifs I will always seek out for the emotions it inspires in me. Particularly resonant: "Your heart won't heal right if you keep tearing out the sutures."
