Next week I start my 1st ever series of night shifts as a doctor Anyone got any good tips for surviving them? Genuinely don’t know what to expect or how to prepare (Think I’ve seen threads 🧵 about this before but can’t seem to find them, so feel free to link them if you can)

Finished my 1st day working as a doctor …& I loved it*. This is exactly what I’ve been dreaming. I loved finally getting to do even the most mundane of dr tasks Leaving the hospital with a spring in my step🥰 *ask me if I still feel this way after I’ve done an on call/night

This bleep is mine for the next 4 months Years of med school, training, and blood, sweat, & tears have led to me becoming a doctor Wishing luck & positive vibes to all my fellow new FY1s (we got this 💪) Despite all its *difficulties*, we chose this profession for a reason

I just got the confirmation that I’ve satisfied all requirements for graduation & I’m very happy to have been awarded the Henry Parsey Prize, a psychiatry award from my medical school 🥰

Final degree awarded (pending ratification by senate): MBChB

Graduation prizes: Henry Parsey prize - WINNER

Looking for holiday suggestions for a little trip before I start fy1 - mid-late July, ideally easy to get to via bham airport - good food & interesting cultural things to do - probs staying in Europe but open minded to going further afield - aiming for 3-5 days

On an unassuming hot Thursday afternoon, I have had my final sign offs recorded & I have *officially* completed medical school I’m delighted to be Dr Ju 🩺👩🏻‍⚕️✨

One thing that sucks about being an adult is you don’t get to spend beautiful spring/summery nice weather midweek afternoons playing rounders with your friends… You have to do work instead Growing up is such a scam fml

I just paid for my provisional registration to the GMC Eeeeek only a few months ‘til I start FY1😳 Any good advice for preparing to start/good resources for FY docs? (Especially any advice for working in geris - that’s my 1st job)

Got my FY1 & FY2 jobs… not in an ideal location, it’s gonna make my life difficult in terms of uprooting my own healthcare support 😓 However, the actual jobs are really good & I’m sure I’ll learn a lot

Today is exactly 2 years since I was discharged from the psych ward that I was sectioned at The 1st pic is from the day I was put on a section 3, the 2nd pic is 2 years later (now!) Can’t believe how far I’ve come… healthy, thriving, soon-to-be doctor. Things can get better.

I’m currently applying to a masters course (part time + distance learning) Has anyone else managed a part time/distance course during foundation years? & has anyone received postgrad loans for this? I’m pretty keen to study this course and to start this coming academic year

Today I found out that I have passed my medical school finals… I really did it. I’m really Dr Julia now 👩🏻‍⚕️🩺 2 years ago I was sectioned in hospital with schizophrenia - this dream career felt so far away. But I’ve done it. I couldn’t be happier right now🥰

Thoroughly fed up that 2 of my 5 days in Tokyo have been ruined because I’ve had ?food poisoning and haven’t been able to leave my bed I mainly came here to eat lots of good Japanese food too, but currently I have absolutely zero appetite 😭

Going to my parents house, a ~2.5 hour drive from mine Realised 45 mins into the journey I wasn’t sure if I had packed my iPad Couldn’t find it in my bag, so drove back to pick it up Except it wasn’t in my house. It was, in fact, in my bag the whole time 🤦🏻‍♀️ thanks adhd brain
