Eclectic interests, devotee of the Church of Don’t Be A Jerk. Trans rights are human rights, and if that’s a problem for you, rethink your life.

The most unrealistic thing about The Hunger Games is a complete lack of advertising. If the Hunger Games were in our current hellscape, Caesar Flickerman would be broadcasting live from Meta Arena, and the dome of the stadium where they announce the fallen tributes would be plastered with ads.

Job offer/recruiting spam texts are pretty common, but here’s a new twist: “Hi Julie,We are assisting U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in recruiting exceptional talent for Border Patrol Agent and other mission-critical law enforcement and mission support roles.”

My mother died five years ago, and we watched dementia take her slowly in the preceding years. I’d like to offer a warm hug to everyone who is grieving or struggling on this Mother’s Day.

The current president of the United States is a demented, idiotic, warmongering mad man. I do not forgive those who refused to vote for Kamala Harris. Racism and misogyny will destroy the world.

TIL that if a 22-year-old smoke detector fails, it will set off every alarm in the house, and if you’re out of town when this happens, it will be so loud that your neighbors across the street will want to call in a wellness check. Fortunately, we’re back home and feeling only slightly idiotic.

I used to think there were very few really evil people, but between ICE and Epstein, I’m seeing how many people just wanted permission to release their worst selves. With ICE, masks and badges free them to torture and kill. With Epstein, money and influence freed them to torture and rape.

We got here because white supremacy and misogyny are not tied to age. Fascism has never been something that would die out by ignoring it. It's the political equivalent of ivy, mint, and kudzu. Only less useful. It spreads endlessly, working on expanding every crack in every wall. We must uproot it

Watching what’s going on and seeing the responses in media and from our representatives, I feel like I’m trapped in an Orwellian nightmare. I’m pounding on the glass and screaming at the top of my lungs, THIS IS NOT NORMAL!

This kind of statement is so disingenuous. Every other advanced country in the world has managed some form of universal healthcare. You can look at the world and find plenty of blueprints for building universal healthcare. It’s willful ignorance to pretend it isn’t possible.

I'm here willing to read anything someone puts together that details how we can get from here to there I'm all for universal healthcare. Tell me how we get there.

When you’re a kid, bandaids on your knees are kind of a badge of honor because you skinned your knees doing something fun and daring. It’s just not the same when you’re an adult, and all you did was step off a curb in front of the UPS Store. 😩

Among all the other good news, the voters in my very conservative county rejected all the school board candidates running on anti-trans panic and elected the ones running on crazy ideas like treating teachers as professionals. Local elections matter!
