A lot of the “left vs. moderate” divide is consultant bullshit slapped onto messy voters after the fact. The class divide is real. Voters are complicated, contradictory, and a lot less clean than a sound bite. Respect them enough to stop treating them like a monolith.
Once you remove the money and consultants who get paid regardless of success, a lot of the “moderate vs. left” divide in Dem primaries starts to evaporate. Voters are not ideological blocs. They have contradictory views. The class divide is usually a lot more real than the political one.
Moderates keep punching left because it’s easier for them than punching up. Working people are getting crushed by rent, groceries, insurance, and corporate greed, and somehow, the biggest concern these political hacks and moderate candidates have is whether somebody gets called a socialist.

If you're leading a party apparatus, you as an individual should never be the story, let alone have your actions actively undermine the party you lead.

I say it again and again: Because we don’t learn the real history of this country, we do not understand what this country is capable of. After 1870, 22 Black men served in Congress. By 1901, because of racist SCOTUS rulings, electoral coups and election cheating and violence, there were none.
And to be clear, in case it’s not, democracy cannot and will not exist without these protections. We already see a South so heavily gerrymandered that numerical majorities cannot win elections and where a minority holds supermajorities in state legislatures.
