The lawn needs to be mowed. I'm tired after a long week and really want to just veg this evening. But what I want *more* is to not have to mow this weekend. Future Justin will be pleased by the sacrifice made by Current Justin.

It's ENSO-forecast day at NOAA — the perfect day for an ENSO announcement of our own. Starting next week, we're taking baby steps toward rebooting the ENSO Blog, which ran on Climate(.)gov from 2014–2025. 🌎️🧪 [1/4]

We've had six days in a row with rain. John Glenn International has picked up about three-and-a-half inches of rain this month, which is more than two inches above average through August 12. Of course, some of you have had quite a bit more than this... it's been a soggy month. #ohioweather #ohwx

Fog has increased quite a bit as we approach 7 a.m. Here are the visibility numbers, in miles... several spots are under a quarter-mile. Keep the headlights on and be ready for quick changes in visibility through mid-morning Thursday.

FYI: The National Weather Service doesn't expect to have damage survey plans until mid-morning today at the earliest. They cover a large area and there's still active weather for them to deal with. It'll likely take a few days for them to hit all the areas they intend to check. #ohwx

Not that posting here right now is a productive solution, but geez I wish I could tell my brain to just quiet down. Full day of severe weather coverage and I'm having constant thoughts now that my mind has the opportunity to be idle.

A Severe T'Storm Watch is in place for parts of eastern Ohio into Pennsylvania until 3 p.m. In our area, that includes Coshocton, Guernsey, and Muskingum Counties. That's for one batch of storms headed east. Another batch of storms is diving out of northwestern Ohio. #ohwx

9 a.m. Monday radar check - a little storm has popped on the northwest side of the Columbus metro and is heading east. It's producing lightning and a brief downpour. It should hug near to just inside the northern Outerbelt. #ohwx

Central Ohio is in a level 2/5 risk of severe storms both today and tomorrow. Complicated forecast because each round of storms will affect what the next one does, but it seems our best chances are this evening, overnight/early tomorrow, and later tomorrow. Gusty winds, heavy rain in play. #ohwx

Story time! Six years ago, my first book, The End of Everything (Astrophysically Speaking), came out. It was fun to write! I got to share all my cosmology fun facts and dig deep into all the ways the universe might end. I had SO much fun with it, I thought, "maybe I should write another book?" 1/?

As of Friday morning, the Storm Prediction Center's severe weather outlook for Saturday afternoon and evening brings a level 1 out of 5 risk into southwestern Ohio. While the potential is low, isn't not zero, so be mindful of that if you're going to be out toward the Dayton or Cincinnati area. #ohwx

Dry today, pretty typical stuff for the last day of July. We're highlighting tomorrow PM because there are soooo many outdoor events that will have a lot of people at them. I do not expect a wall of rain 😆 but there'll be spotty rain and a few thunderstorms around, so be ready to adjust plans. #ohwx
