the reason why technodrive is my favorite cab is because of the insanity it's full of. The lore is future japan sending a machine back in time to impart good driving skills on humans. Every inch of the cab is full of wild messages. the receipts are full of hundreds of things like this. im obsessed.

Comparing the PC-88/PC-98 to the Cambrian explosion is such a wonderful analogy. Its impossible to overstate the legacy of designers like Yoshio Kiya (Brandish, Ys,etc) and Hiroyuki Kanno (Eve Burst Error, YU-NO,) And look at all the doujin work!! So many aspects of gaming really evolved from here

The PC-88/PC-98 were a Cambrian Explosion of sorts for a range of gameplay and design innovations that found their way to consoles in the mid-90s. many of these games were either straight-up H or dubiously-SFW (see: Doukyuusei, YU-NO, Princess Maker, later on Shizuku and ToHeart, the list goes on)

BROKE: Sega put a divider between the Virtual On twin cabinets to prevent people from viewing the opponent's screen WOKE: Sega did it to prevent you from making out with the other player mid game

I truly wish there is a perfect way to capture exactly how beautiful it is on a CRT... the logo to lamp swap is so smooth... the glow of the jewel is incredible, it really does look like a physical object sitting right in front of you. Its really something you have to see in person to understand

There are so many incredible things about the intro to the PC-98/Win version of "YU-NO" but one of my favorite details is that a piece of the Elf logo in the beginning gets superimposed into the scene on the base of a lamp!

Got a stunning NEC PC-TV 454! Its a tri-sync monitor so I can complete my dreams of plugging anything i want into a single display. Dreamcast 31khz? Hell yeah. Famicom 15khz? Of course. PC-98's weird ass 24khz? Amazingly, yes
