Expanded to include Sorcery, Truth, and Religion. Now we have a nice dirty dozen. These are called Drives, though Lick is the odd one... not so much a drive as an unknown factor in a life of crime and intrigue.

I have a #TTRPG in mind and these are the basic stats for characters: Sex Politics Drugs Alcohol Murder Theft War Art Luck It's safe to say this one is going to be rated R.

Hey everyone in the USA, I hope you're keeping yourselves hydrated and mentally secure in these times of overt fascism and absolute stupidity. It ain't easy. And to everyone else out there suffering varying degrees of tragedy as a result of all this bullshit, I'm so sorry. I hope we can fix it.

Geez. Went from making a zany space RPG to drawing a fat barbarian to writing a sword and sorcery RPG to fiddling with a cartoon animal RPG to writing a grimdark RPG based on a city called Hogbone ran by a cursed alcoholic Queen Regent. I am all over the place. Need to finish something soon.

Here's an old drawing of Wonder Woman. I can't seem to find the original scan. This is a pretty small JPG. I must have named it something else or lost it. Guess I need to rescan some of this really old stuff.

I DESPERATELY want to create and publish a #TTRPG in the spirit of RPGs from the 80s-2000s. Think Ars Magica, Legendary Lives, Army Ants, GURPS, Bean the d2 RPG, and Talislanta. I may or may not have been noodling on this for the past 5 days and it might maybe be a percentile skill system thing.

You don't have to be overtly political. But working with right wingers because "keeping politics out of the hobby" is aligning with them. Apolitical stances ALWAYS favor the oppressors. You might grouse about it, but that's a fact, jack. You say a LOT by who you choose to collaborate with.

Not a D&D 4e bash, just a thought. I played 4e several times and in each combat (the games were structured around set piece battles) I've never felt quite as restricted in an RPG. And it's because of the special feats and stuff. If you have Bash That Bastard as an ability that grants x2 dmg...

Still heavily locked-in on writing/designing #TTRPG stuff, so I have not been drawing much other than a few sketches here and there. Like this one. I have 3 game projects that are between 70% and 90% complete. But getting over the hump is not easy right now. At least I'm still vertical and nerdy.

Ink sketch of a curvy space woman in a cramped pilot seat with gadgets around her and a can of Buzzr™ energy drink. "No shit the aft thrusters are shot! Grab one from forward and walk your ass out there!"

An RPG where you play peasants rising up against an invading colonial force. You were just normal farming and hunting folks, now you turn your traditional tools into weapons and call upon your peaceful spirits to aid you in battle. Is there a game with that exact theme? #TTRPG #question

Shadowdark came at a time when I wasn't paying much attention to the scene and I was a little burned out on D&D-based clones and hacks. So I ignore it, despite it being a HUGE success written by a woman and that everyone was raving about. I plan to pick up a copy soon. I'm happy this exists.

Ok... where did the #TTRPG fantasy dwarf's ability to smell treasure come from? I know it is probably rooted in Tolkien... but where did it originate in games? I know it's in #DCCRPG, but it's also in Legendary Lives from 1993. It is not in original D&D.

Vampire: the Masquerade came out when I was in my 20s and I thumbed through the books regularly at mall bookstores. I should have been super into it. But I wasn't. I didn't buy it, didn't want to play it. But loved looking at it. I've never played it and I don't have any curiosity to try it.

Legendary Lives has a lot of character tables, including a Lifeline table, which gives you a clue about past events. Lots of LOVER stuff. There's also a separate Lover table. And this 272 page book has 39 pages describing a bunch of religions. Kinda cool. Also a Religious Lifeline table.

Picture of open book showing Lifeline table of events, such as "Enemy is a former lover" or "mental illness" or "hunted by local law".

Legendary Lives from 1993 boasts that is it the first RPG to have player-facing mechanics. They call it "semi-diceless", meaning the players roll but the GM doesn't. When a PC is attacked, you roll in defense. The attacker doesn't roll. We see this style in a lot of games now. I like it. #TTRPG

Cover of the RPG Legendary Lives by Joe Williams and Kathleen Williams. Very early 90s look. A desktop publishing vibe. Shirtless barbarian fighting a green clad elf on a bridge. Artist is Raphael Schnepf.Pic of the open book stating "The use of dice by the players and not the referee is called semi-diceless role playing, and Legendary Lives is the first game to employ this method."

I like to sketch directly with inks, mistakes be damned. A huge portion of my sketchbooks are lacking any pencil marks, which explains why so many of the drawings are awkward. But it's the process that matters to me, not the product. #sketch #vampire
