MkLinux DR3! Kind of a bear to install on this Power Mac 7300, because MkLinux and LinuxPPC don’t like BlueSCSI. So it’s installed on a physical hard drive. Mac OS 8.1, BeOS, and Windows for Workgroups are on the BlueSCSI. [1/2]

There’s the first batch of things I’m going to swap/sell/give away at the Retro Computer Swap Meet next weekend. Once I go through my whole collection I’ll certainly have more than this. It feels nice to prune out the things from projects I’ve finished or decided not to do.

This week's project is to take stock of my retro computer collection before next weekend's Seattle Retro Computer Swap Meet. You're not going to believe this but I might have slightly too many old computers.

I’ve come across a bunch of old CD-ROMs that have these black rubber rings around the outer edge. I’ve never seen these before - is anyone familiar with them? They pull right off, and definitely aren’t compatible with a slot-loading drive. Whatever could they have been for?

What the SIT?! | Eric Helgeson

It happens all the time - someone buys or builds a BlueSCSI then tries to get some files to their Mac. The file is an onion of archive forma

A fun lil feature I'm working on: showing the contents of a disc on its webpage. It's just on a few dozen discs while I'm ironing out the kinks. Even in very preliminary shape, it's neat to see this without going through the whole effort of loading up an emulator. [1/2]

I had a lot of fun building https://classicmacdemos.com/ . Looking back over the past 12 months, I've cataloged 454 CD cover discs and added 13 new demos to the website. It's safe to say that what I'm interested in right now is archiving and cataloging cover discs.

I wish there were a way to add to or edit the information on someone else's Internet Archive upload. It feels a little wasteful to create a whole duplicate item just because I have, for example, an image of a CD.

New batch of Macintosh magazine cover discs just landed! I’ll start digitizing and archiving these over the weekend. On first look, there are a good amount in here that I’ve never come across in digital form, so I’m excited to get these into Internet Archive.

I'm upgrading this trashcan Mac from quad core to a twelve core CPU. I'm trying to decide which OS version will be most fun to run on it. The trashcans were compatible with Mavericks through Monterey.
