My newsletter came out on Monday. But if you couldn't tell, I'm really excited for September. Practical magic #2, American Horror Story 13, monster: Lizzie Borden. I am totally done with summer. I am ready for crunchy leaves. Pumpkin spice everything. Cozy boots. Horror, horror, horror.

I am opening up a couple of developmental edit spots for a severely discounted price again. This will include developmental inline comments, but it will not include a developmental edit letter. Three spots open. For projects up to 80,000 words, for the price of $300 USD.

What am I working on today? Well, more like the last few weeks Developmental edit of a project that is so unique, I adore it. A couple of different projects that I'm doing content pulls on. Book coaching for a regular client whose work is always fantastic. Hoping to start another developmental edit.

I've personally never been one to read a lot of writing resources. I don't find they are one-size-fits-all. What works for one person doesn't work for another; what works for one story doesn't work for every story

Limiting words are words that restrict, narrow, or define the scope, amount, or certainty of other words or ideas. In many cases, the use of limiting words can bog down your writing. If you are an overwriter, these are words that you can take out.

July 23rd was another really good writing day for me. I don't believe in chasing the muse. I don't believe in only writing when you are inspired. I believe in writing when my body allows me to. With chronic illness, my body doesn't afford me the ability to just write when inspired.

I have some editing availability that has opened up! I would really love to take on developmental, coaching, or beta reading. I would love to take on horror, dark romance, thriller, and poetry. However, I will take on anything. If you comment on this post first, you will get your service 15% off!

You may think your editor is good, soft, and demure. I am, uhh... Definitely not. I am feral, I am bitey, I could possibly be rabid. But I will cheerlead your project with an unhinged, manic glee.

July 12th, I took the whole day and turned it into a writing retreat day. I did writing sprints with two of my good friends! Each of us got plenty of work done. No, we didn't go anywhere. We all participated from the comfort of our own homes. We cheered each other on in our pajamas, and we had fun.

I've been doing quite a bit of writing lately. Taking on a new challenge, I have been aiming to write 3000 words every day. It hasn't worked out to 3000 each time. But by setting myself a high number, I am actually pushing myself towards it.

This is my book haul from Nocturne Books in Calgary!! This store packs a hell of a punch. I bought a whole bunch of books, as well as a couple of other goodies. I'm so glad that they are a bookstore dedicated to horror and dark fiction. I can never find enough horror at my local Indigo.

Because I have an addiction to buying books, my mom and I went to Forbidden Library in Calgary. They have a wonderful collection of romance! These are the books that we bought. We also got a couple of other goodies as well!

An example of a pretty good month! 3470 words for June. Ultimately, I would like to write at least 1000 words a day. Does that happen? No. Not regularly. 200 words here. 700 words there. Writing a book is about consistency. I tend to lack consistency... I hope to create better habits for myself.

The first few drafts are going to have problems. It would be suspicious if they didn't. They should be messy. You should be discovering what your story needs to be. So you can't run away from its problems. Well, you can try. But they're always going to be there. Until you decide to tackle them.

It Ends With Her, another fantastic collection published by Dead Fox Publishing, is a sapphic horror masterpiece. It is a siren song. Beautiful, luring, dangerous. You won't know that you're in too deep until you're drowning.
