As I’ve said before, I think our myopic focus on gas prices is less than helpful in the bigger scheme of things. But since people continue to focus on it, this seems significant.

I am also not a Maine voter, but watching that video I can't help but notice her hands shaking whenever she tries to take a bite. Age is not the only factor when considering a candidate, but that would be one additional factor for Maine voters to consider.

Liz Cheney (as of now) has earned a place in history as someone who stood up to lawlessness, cult-worship, and corruption, at personal cost. Susan Collins has earned a place for cravenly doing the opposite, to maintain 'influence' I am not a Maine voter. If I were, I'd prefer nearly anyone to her.

1/2 Colorado Folks: Initiative 195 (graduated state income tax) has made the ballot. I'm in favor of this (although open to arguments against it). This story has a nice calculator that tells you your effective tax rate based on your income so you can see if your state taxes would go up or down.

1. Mitch McConnell suffered a fall on June 14 and has not been in the Senate for two months. But he's continued to get paid his salary of 174K/year. Since he entered the Senate in 1985, McConnell has voted against creating or expanding medical leave — paid and unpaid — at least 23 times.

My freshman year at MIT was P/F. It's a good idea (although the logical extension - that will never happen - is to get rid of grades altogether).

The University of Michigan recently announced plans to mask first-semester grades for students in its liberal arts college starting fall 2027. The school plans to simply list classes as “P” for pass or “NC” for no credit on official transcripts.

Yes, if you are *replacing* your home internet service, then it often makes sense. But so many people have unlimited data "just because" and are paying a ton just because they are on autopilot. We pay $50 a month total for 5 phones. I know many folks paying 5x that amount.
