Replies and quote tweets of this are informative about a certain range of attitudes indicating some people are very angry that women in Edinburgh have a single sex service set up in addition to the ERCC service which did not guarantee such services for users.

Well said. Arguing that 'trans people exist' is akin to arguing that 'Scientologists exist'. Nobody is saying otherwise. But that doesn't mean we all have to believe the story of Xenu (attached). Nor does it mean we all have to believe in gender identity. Because these are faiths, not facts.
The viewpoint of the “gender critical”: We accept that trans people exist. But we think gender identity is a belief system that we don’t share. Analogous to atheists accepting religious people exist but not God or souls. Sex is an observable, objective characteristic we all have. Gender id is not.
