I have no idea how to use this website but tumblr has like 12 employees and is falling apart so. Hi! My brain has recently been eaten by FFXIV, and I’m currently just at the start of StB patches and at least theoretically trying to avoid spoilers.

#ffxiv #altcanon doing Prae a lot lately to level up MCH (4 more levels until I am caught up to MSQ...pray for me) and, as I‘ve fleshed Altan out a lot more than I had the first time I did it, I’ve found Gaius’s ubermensch bullshit makes him very fitting for Altan as a contrasting antagonist…

LRT includes my own oc. Buddy sticking it to your parents who you haven’t interacted with in years and who won’t even know you joined the Maelstrom is not enough justification for joining the Maelstrom. You Are In Your Twenties.

Genuinely even given the overall conservatism of FFXIV the refusal of Squenix to actually treat Lolorito as a villain is unbelievable. Like beyond even the whole post-Bloody Banquet politics disaster what do you MEAN he’s openly selling weapons to the Garlean Empire???

#altcanon Very Badly. In his base canon he already has massive amounts of guilt, impostor syndrome, and self-loathing for his base canon reliance on and love of battle to the point of bloodlust, and pumping that up to DUrge levels would basically make everything worse.

#wolqotd / #wolquestion i've been on a baldur's gate 3 kick as of late, so: your wol experiences near-constant visions and compulsions of committing unspeakable violence, regardless of their will or personal ethos. how do they handle this? how do they feel about it? walk me through an example.

#altcanon there is a distinct possibility that the Adkiragh Custom Deliveries storyline is going to be loadbearing in Altan’s personal arc. or well not really because I think he’s still diligently Not Thinking about his family, but on a subconscious level,

While job quests are as far as I know always meant to have taken place at the same time as the update they were released in, I may have to wolcanonize the CUL 1-50 quests taking place post-HW, because it’s hilarious.

#altcanon Genuinely I think Altan’s parents would have less of a problem with the being transgender thing (though that would be a problem, they could get over it) than with the fact that he is a semi-honorary semi-actual member of the Maelstrom under Merlwyb.

#NewShiftNewQuestion | #wolqotd | #wolquestion Would your OC's parents be proud of what they are now?

They must not given it would’ve been brought up but it would have been so fun (for me) (guy who first truly understood the concept of Blorbo bc of discovering Edmund KingLear in HS English) if Ishgard had some of the Elizabethan “bastards are born extra sinful due to being born of sin“isms

#ffxiv I love that a possible conclusion to the lvl 70 ALC quest has the WoL telling Severian they would unhesitatingly revive a loved one if they could, after 70 levels of job quests about the dangers of not accepting mortality, two arcs of which involved loved one necromancy specifically.

#altcanon Now that I’ve finally done the relevant quest—“…Justice demands no less.” Given the questline’s repeated citation of the existence of no justice beyond that which we believe in and try to bring into being, despite this option on the surface being the less active one, for him it’s moreso—

Actually you know what? #wolqotd | #wolquestion For those that have Dark Knight as part of their WoL/OC's canon. (Listen to my voice. Listen to our heartbeat...) "...Justice demands no less." "I tire of this charade." Which one? And why?

I’m sure it’s been discussed and I’m just new to the fandom but the misogyny of how Ysayle’s death is handled pmo so bad…To be sure it makes sense for her to be less publically mourned than Haurchefant because she was an originally “villainous” woman of low status in Ishgard.

#altcanon I initially assumed all the StB DRK quests were going to involve HW villains, so I imagined it would all take place prior to the leadup to StB, and planned Altan's arc accordingly (it happening immediately after Tales from the Dragonsong War), which the lvl 68 quest threw a wrench in.

#altcanon I talk the most about the sad mutual pining aspect of Altan and Minfilia’s dynamic bc #ilovesuffering but rly the most vital part of it is that they were genuinely each other’s best friends (not exclusive of Krile you can have multiple I think) and happy with that even if not 💯% satisfied!

speaking of canon wol characterization, there's an underrated thread from the intro cutscene where they're first asked why they decided to become an adventurer - when asked the same question by the doman kids in 2.X, staying silent gets replaced with the phrase they have to say to join the scions

#ffxiv I really do love that not only does Ilberd win*, it is *acknowledged in-narrative* (by Raubahn) (sympathetically!) that he won! *& even moreso than he expected to, given he’d given up hope of actual liberation & was just aiming for ending the occupation by killing everyone in Ala Mhigo

#ffxiv Discovered the millking’s coat yesterday and currently agonizing over what to make Altan‘s “canon” StB fit, and would appreciate thoughts and opinions if anyone would like to offer them. (Sorry the photos are at different times of day. I care too much about this but not enough to redo.)

Altan, a max height male Xaela Au Ra with red hair in an undercut, performs the lookout emote off the edge of the Dawn Throne. It is daytime.
He is wearing brass glasses, plundered earrings, carpenter’s gloves, a millking’s coat, rebel boots, and the amatsu haidate (though you can’t see them). there’s like kind of a neat underlying criticism of alphinaud as a boy striving and failing to become a patriarchal figure over and over again but post-banquet it’s so subtle it’s basically not there until it does pop up again and you’re like oh we’re still interested in this thematically cool cool

#ffxiv Finished Ivalice raids! It did lowkey make me interested in Tactics even though the writing was a bit shit (except when Fran was there. love you Fran.) so Squenix won I guess. I died a million times in the raids but I didn’t have a bad time overall.
