Had a big "grin moment" when I accidentally killed myself by teleporting myself into a trap in my Pac-Man game I'm working on. So many "ugh is it worth it" moments in #GameDev but this kind of thing makes it worth it!
Star Trek Continues is very good. The average episode is better than average episode of TOS, and its best are in the top 5 episodes of the original series. Great gift for anyone who likes classic Trek. Mignogna sucks as a person, but he does a great Kirk. Plus it's freeeee. #StarTrek
Watched One Body Too Many. I'll watch anything with Lugosi, and this had the added joy of Haley doing his "Awww shucks" thing. Better as a comedy than a mystery, it's still a fun enough ride. The 40s era thing of "let me explain it to you 5 times" reminds me of Netflix movies. #MovieReview
It's been pretty wild shifting about 80% of my work to cloud agents instead of doing things locally. For giant projects, I'll still pull them down locally and iterate, but for bugfixes and initial planning, I just find myself working more off my computer than on it. #programming
Watched Smouldering Fires. Silent films can be rough, and many awkward cuts and music hurt the comedy, but there's a series of twisty movies here that really dug into tough topics and confronted them head on. Frederick was astounding in her ability to bring emotion in 1925. #MovieReview
Coming soon to Orphaned Entertainment! Our October episode will be a review of this comedy-horror film starring Jack Haley, Jean Parker, and with Bela Lugosi. ONE BODY TOO MANY (1944) #PublicDomain #Comedy #MovieReview youtu.be/aezyRV0ELdo?...

I'm playing #Daggerheart for the first time today. Anything I should do to help my GM as a player? I've done lots of #rpg stuff over the years, so comparisons welcome! I'm playing an elven wizard (I know but it's a trope for a reason) #ttrpg
Watched Project Hail Mary. Definitely more of a "brain off science kinda" movie than The Martian. I was able to enjoy it for sheer heart, even though the montage and exposition threatened that enjoyment. Hüller was a huge comedic stand-out. Better than the book I think! #MovieReview
I've started recording #running on Strava. Anyone I know also log there so I can give you kudos to help me stay motivated?
Watched Never Been Kissed. I don't remember thinking it was the best movie when I watched it ages ago, but man did this one not age well. Teacher/student issues, stereotypes, sexism, it has it all. Paired with the awkward acting, I just couldn't find much to recover in this one. #MovieReview
Currently in a spot of #gamedev where I'm not sure if I'm chasing a sunk cost (I've spent weeks on this, I should get it somewhat complete) or just in a lull. How do you decide when to cut bait on a project vs pushing through? #gamedevelopment #indiedev
Watched The Odyssey. Probably my favorite Nolan since Inception. The body horror was well done and the star-studded cast actually paid off. So many good performances and the pacing was stellar. I've wanted Nolan to stop writing his own movies but I think I'm wrong. #MovieReview
Watched Flow. The animation was lacking in places, but the story was engaging and the characters are astounding given that there is no dialogue. Not once did I want to look away from the screen. There's enough metaphor there to have questions at the end but not so much to be confused. #MovieReview
Watched Minions. Fairly nonsensical and aimed far too much at adults for my taste, but it seems like a modern version of 3 Stooges where the plot doesn't really matter and the silliness is the point. Kids enjoyed it, but I wish there were some positive messages. #MovieReview
I knew I was drinking 8 shots of #espresso daily for a good reason! www.sciencedaily.com/releases...
Coffee drinkers have less fat, more muscle, and surprising hormone differences
Coffee drinkers may be getting more than an energy boost. A Finnish study found that people who drank more coffee tended to have less total and abdominal fat, more muscle, and healthier metabolic markers despite having similar BMIs. Higher coffee intake was also linked to lower levels of certain amino acids associated with insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes risk.

Watched Curious George. Pretty silly plot, but comes with the territory. Captivating for a 4 year old, but drags a bit after the car chase. Still a top 20 movie for littles. Cross's acting is the stand-out by far and sadly Barrymore is too thinly written of a character. #MovieReview
Watched The Oh in Ohio. Better and less silly than I expected. Directorial choices feel really interesting here, and "comedy actors" get a good chance to stretch into dramatic moments. Reminds me tonally of Boogie Nights with a far less tight script. Actors largely do great. #MovieReview
I played Thieves of the Tome tonight and it was splendid. The party raided The Louvre and used spells from Howl's Moving Castle and Red Rising to summon Lovecraftian monsters inside the 99 Percent Invisible urban infrastructure. Wonderful chaotic time. #rpg #ttrpg dairykillsme.itch.io/thieves-...

I'm working through season 5 of #AllyMcBeal, and some of the character development feels rough. The highs of this show are great, but a lot of it didn't age super well, and it's clear that there were actor issues that makes some of the plotlines feel abandoned.
Go vote if you live in #missouri since it's the most direct way to exercise democracy! Especially important today since Amendment 4 is designed to prevent all votes counting equally. Even if you don't care about party politics, you can get a "issues only" ballot to still vote on referendums!
Kiddos got to go #fishing for scouts today! Fun to see them out in nature and learn a bit. Their great grandfather was a very dedicated fisherman, so it's nice to talk to them about him too! #parenting
Watched Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Probably my favorite of the Holland Spider-Man movies and has some amazing emotional scenes with real character development. Script felt like a mess, and the shots that "feel" expensive hurt my soul, but a good popcorn flick with great actors. #MovieReview
Watched Three Guys Named Mike. 50s comedy with a good mix of screwball silliness and oblivious romance. The girl-gang had some real heart, and the chauvinism was present but not *so* oppressive, possibly because Wyman was so silly. The speaking style also reminded me of my Grandma. ❤️ #MovieReview
Watched Loose Ankles. Started out in a predictable but engaging fashion, but the alcohol scenes felt so stilted that it was hard to stay engaged. Fun as a prohibition view of prohibition, and the circus spectacle was impressive filming. Skip 15 min and it's a good basic film. #MovieReview
Watched The Naked Gun (1988). If I were more into cop shows of the era, I think it would have landed better for me. Objectively great, but mostly the humor missed me, probably because much of it has been cribbed over the years. Still delightfully silly though. #MovieReview
Watched Boat Trip. If you got annoyed about the plot in I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry or about the depth of characters in Three to Tango, this is for you. Not sure why anyone would pick this one, but it's a movie if you like cruise ships I guess. #MovieReview
Watched Secretary. What an odd film that feels like it is trying to make Nymphomaniac a more approachable movie. It feels like it peppers salacious "funny" scenes in between real trauma and is largely just a tonal miss for me. Performances are good, but movie was built for thumbnails. #MovieReview
