Cats, knitting, crochet, sewing and a random touch of gardening. Not good at drawing. Life's too short to waste time on housework. Remains a Punk against fascism.

I am off for a flying visit to Amsterdam, wondering what #knitting project I should take with me. Socks are an eternal fave, but I want to knit lace not plain - which will make a project less 'commuter-friendly'. I could cast on a plain top/cardi etc as being more 'mindless'. Decisions, decisions.

#knitting #skyknits not sure the pick does justice to this sweater. It looks tiny but is a crop top with negative ease (and little puffy sleeves). Baby alpaca DK in dark blue, purple and green. Colourway is Engine Oil by Quack Yarns (UK etsy). It really does have that dark rainbow quality.

Sweater lying on a white sheet. The body has alt small and larger cables.

I really want a laundry room, esp as the weather is beginning to turn. I hold one in my dreams, a place to dry my hand knits. How sad is that? What a 1st world problem to have. My house is so badly designed (no woman would design such a layout) & there's really no way forward. Sigh.

So the Tories want to stop long-term unemployed spending money on booze, ciggies & gambling. How on earth are they going to police that? And, what is their evidence that money is being spent that way? Another example of making folks believe that's where money goes without supportive data.

Funny how short memories are. Wonder what locals made of RAF Barnham when previously occupied? Did they care that kids were roaming the village on foot, bike & moped at all hours, or that personnel were also out & about, making roads busy etc? Hubs lived there. Real issues or a matter of skintone?

#knitting the turtleneck is done but not yet caught down. My 1st ever Latvian braid is done. Now ready to start the yoke design. Had to adjust the maths on this pattern, but it doesn't detract from the fun of the process.

Image of the neck of a sweater, on a white sheet. Main yarn colour is brown, with patterning in orange. There are a number of stitch markers in place, ready for starting the main pattern.

"Responding to criticism and comments on his Facebook post about the incident, Madgwick denied the reaction to the cricketers' arrival had been racist." If it wasn't racist, then what was it? 30-40 people confronting under 19yr olds - because of their skin tone, alone? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Group entered hotel of Pakistan cricketers mistaken for migrants

Protesters congregated at a Portsmouth hotel after false rumours that a coach of migrants had arrived.

Last winter I knitted 🧶 my dad some socks. This summer he died, but my mum's started wearing them in the cooler eves (my dad had small feet). Today one of them are back at mine with a hole in!! Looks like they've been snagged by something, as it's in a very odd place.

I've ordered an online shop for tomorrow morning, usual early time only, working has been cancelled for the morning so I'm getting up whether I want to or not! Humpf.

#knitting #knitsky query - I'm doing a Tee pattern & it seems that the shape is very much a 'T', meaning there are no additional stitches to be made under the arm. In the pic, the sleeves don't sit quite right & I wonder if that's why. If I was sewing, I might do a direct T shape, but knitting?

There is nothing more satisfying than hearing your brother & wife deserves meals paid for by mum because of all the work he's done since dad died. Well, it would be satisfying if he'd done even a quarter of what we've done 🤦‍♀️ Isn't it always the case when the absent one gets all the credit?

#knitting 🧶I've just done that thing where you're not so comfortable with the provisional cast on method, completed 2 sides & joined, gone to pick up the prov stitches & been really unhappy with them - so pulled the whole darn lot out! Now going to do that cast on method you use for toe-up socks.

The Sussexes are moving back to the UK & their kids have been enrolled in schools here. Well, good for them & I hope they have a peaceful time here. However, I can't help wondering if Meghan will get the same sh*t she got last time, based in the main it seemed, on being a Black, succesful woman.

Dad's funeral today. Eulogy gave a few giggles & the wake was a perfect summer's morning in a pub garden, with a continental breakfast style buffet. As far as funerals go, it was a good day. Dad would have liked it, I think. Son created a picture album thro the ages & we took wedding album too.

Had a Sunday gastro-pub lunch and yet again, left disappointed. Everywhere you go, the menu is all but identical, just like the way it's served. Home-made prices but deep-freeze (buy-in) offerings. Another place I wouldn't choose to return to. What happened to decent pub grub?

Having spent 3 nights in a hotel housing the Nigerian athletics team at the weekend, in Scotland (son's wedding), I shall be watching out for them at the Commonwealth Games. I think we met most of them & what was nice is that they were generally a very happy bunch who all said hello 🙂
