Update: received a response from the director of Bike Share. The salient part: It is not our policy to have vans block cycling lanes. In response to your feedback, we have firmly reminded all of our staff members who re-balance our bikes that they should not be blocking bike lanes - ever.

I’m incredibly disappointed at the complete lack of response from the city and from @joshmatlow.bsky.social. This is proving to be a chronic issue that is putting cyclists in danger regularly by a PUBLIC SERVICE FOR CYCLING.

We know #BikeShareTO has been parking in bikeways for a long time & most of us have been endangered by this behaviour - but maybe people think there's a legal agreement permitting it? There is no such agreement. Yonge is a cycle track - stopping isn't permitted for anything in cycle tracks.

Happy #wildfire #smoke season to all those who observe. Fun fact, PM2.5 are particles so tiny they seep into your blood through your lung alveoli. These particles then oxidize the inside of your blood vessels causing all sorts of damage. Wildfire smoke is a major source of heart attacks and stroke.

Never understood how/why #BikeShareTO got away with illegally parking in bike lanes to do their work. Especially at night when there's only one lane for people cycling to merge into. Especially at intersections, on a hill, on a night with 2 nearby concerts letting out when there are other options.

In Toronto "road restoration" refers to the road infrastructure. The street is the thing on top of the road and a Street Restoration does include the entire transportation right of way. But "street" rarely, if ever, refers to anything more than better/standard sidewalks & curb cuts for pedestrians

First step to reframing pedestrianization as street restoration vs. transformation is expanding planning language. Today, "street restoration" largely means roadway repair. Expand that definition, & the budget, to include restoring pedestrian infrastructure, trees, art, local commerce & social life.

In Montreal, drinking alcohol at parks is common and mostly legal. It’s normal to meet up with friends with some beer/wine and snacks. There are often bathrooms and individuals collecting empty cans for the deposit. I find this fascinating. What about where you live? Common or not? Legal or not?

We are living in a dystopian state in Ontario. Look at these ads that our province is running. people don't have anywhere to go anymore - and if you aren't a moment or two away from being in the same spot, count yourself fucking lucky.

This road& bikeway was neglected due to the number of condo developments. The road was cooked in 2021, but there's no sense in fixing a road until heavy construction is done. A few compromises were made from our original design, but one of the few remaining flex-bollard cycle tracks is now gone.

Scorcher volunteering at #DoWestFest this weekend. The crowds Saturday night were both unmanageable & unsafe, leading to an early closure when police were unable to keep Dufferin & Dovercourt open. Can't believe I'm hoping for worse weather for the other summer festivals so they feel safer.

Will we be looking at drivers being dragged out of their vehicles by TPS when said drivers goes through a red lights, illegally turns, or blasts through pedestrians crossovers? @toronto.ca it would be good to have a clear understanding of the ‘use of force’ for precieved traffic infringements.

A bicycle is a vehicle (this person appears to have been riding on the roadway = a vehicle). This behaviour is no different from 3 police officers dragging a driver out of their car for rolling through a stop sign. Make it make sense.

Conversely, for those in the back. The province is ALSO saying that we don't need motor vehicle lanes on roads that have a subway underneath. Or a streetcar Or a bus route..? That's most arterial roads. Removing motor vehicles will make all of these roads safer for people cycling. Let's do this.🙏🏽

This area of the city by Stanley Park is known as the “Toronto Badlands”. Former over a millennia by glaciers & cosmic windstorms. All great cities are proud of their badlands.
