Minneapolis. Gen X mom to a preschooler. Government IT employee. She/her.

I’ve never lived on a block with a NNO block party. We get sort of invited to the one behind us, but feel weird going. So we went to the park and my kid played with other kids who don’t have block parties.

My kid wanted to paint her nails with that fake nail polish that they make for kids that just peels off. What’s the harm? The harm is it doesn’t just peel out of hair, off her legs, off her dress or off the rug. KIDS SHIT SHOULD ALL BE WASHABLE!!!

My child is home with a non-family/friend babysitter for the first time in her life. I don’t know how we made it this long.

The thing I needed to do with no instructions I took a chance with and unenrolled my kid from aftercare for every Tuesday and Wednesday for the entire year. Ugh. Luckily that confirmation email came with an actual contact and I was able to get it all straightened.

Why is everything about getting things lined up for Kindergarten so stupid difficult? Today's frustration is an email saying- go do this thing- with no instructions on how to do that thing. Email says contact us with questions, but from a "no reply" email and no contact information listed.

I just moved my work belongings to my SIXTH desk in less than four years in this building. Its a shared office this time, and seems a bit warm. It will be a big change from being cold all the time. I may not need my blanket, fingerless gloves and office sweater.

Where do you bring your younger kids with long hair to get their hair cut? One of those Kids Hair places? Great Clips? My normal salon? My kid wants a professional cut before starting Kindergarten.

Just got my hairs cut by the indomitable Hilda of Hilda's Hair Hut. She wants you all to know that August 8th, from 10-7, D's Banh Mi is celebrating their first year of business with a 1st birthday bash! Vendors, Food, Music and Arbeiter Brewing!!

For the second time this year, a State building had a fire that caused a lot of smoke and water damage and the agency forgot that they also have IT employees that work there and didn't let them know. MOST emergency alert systems at the State exclude IT employees.

Kid and I were home all day after a mega-vomitfest into the early morning last night. We didn’t do much, but we tie-dyed some tees including my Peggy Flanagan shirt that I’m going to wear constantly until the Primary.

Anyone having issues with Libby connecting to Hennepin County Libraries this morning? I was prompted to enter my PIN and when I do, I get a reported “unexpected error” on the Hennepin side.

I’m at my in-laws family reunion. The Norwegian side. LOTS of delicious Scandinavian foods. LOTS of blonde people with a smattering of red heads.

With a portable floor a/c running all day, it is 87 degrees in my home office, located in the attic. I am very happy to be done soon.

Love when a "leading" candidate for governor wouldn't be able to pass the background check for entry level State jobs. (Dept of Revenue requires that you have filed and are current on your taxes or have an approved payment plan.) www.startribune.com/in-2024-lind...

Lindell had wages garnished, IRS lien on Texas house in 2024

The Republican candidate for governor said in sworn depositions that a failed COVID-19 investment compounded his financial struggles. He insists the tax dispute will be resolved.

I have a babysitter today while I work from home. I’ll need to order delivery for them for lunch. What do 15 year old girls like to eat that’s not too expensive?

I’m reading a book series that isn’t really my thing (suspense/mystery) because the author lives in my neighborhood and I want to be able to say I’ve read her books if I ever run into her.
