Arrighetti called Max Scherzer “a childhood hero”, just like Justin Verlander, who he played with in Houston. He describes himself as “a baseball junkie”, mentioning Springer, Cease and Soriano as teammates he’s excited to play with… then added “and Myles, too.” #BlueJays

Arrighetti says he’s jumped right into forming new relationships with #BlueJays teammates, which excites him. “I’m ready to pitch. That was the first thing I said in Schneider’s office yesterday … I told him I’d throw this series if he wanted me to skip the rehab altogether.”

Taillon believes that he got to a point where he was pitching “timid” and too focused on what the worst-case scenario could be. He’s excited for the fresh start now. A pending free agent, but still a very interesting arm to watch down the stretch. #BlueJays

Daulton Varsho will have a press conference soon here in Houston. Spencer Arrighetti just landed over on the #BlueJays’ side and is meeting his new teammates.

Spencer Arrighetti is a strong return for two months of Daulton Varsho. He has club control through the end of the 2029 season and has options remaining. If the #BlueJays can get him in the zone and turn him into a usable depth starter, that's a real win.

If Josh Smith looks good down the stretch with the #BlueJays, he can be an optionable depth piece at 2B, 3B, LF and RF, which has value. There will be an arbitration decision, too. Josh Stephan doesn't have much prospect shine, but a traditional "starter" to fill in with AAA.

The #BlueJays' front office is showing, again, that they have no problem dealing top prospects or former first-round picks. Looking back at their track record, this front office times its risks well. You don't win every trade, but they've got a great batting average on these.

José Soriano will be a similar type of project to Dylan Cease for Pete Walker and the #BlueJays' pitching staff. He's already got great shit. He sits at 97-98 mph with a nasty knuckle curve. If they push the right buttons, they can turn a very good pitcher into a great one.
