People can shout about AI's inevitability all they want, but if you use that shit to "write" or "generate" aaaanything when it comes to the craft of fiction, you're missing the fucking point entirely, and robbing yourself of a lot of joy and living. THE WORK IS THE POINT. Also, you're a pudwhacker.

Multnomah County Library has asked me to be a part of their "What's in My Bag?" video series, much like Amoeba Records does, but with books in the library. Of all the cool things that have happened in my writing life, this is ABSOLUTELY one of the coolest. What an honor. I love the library so much.
Goddamn, William Gay was such a great writer. Reading his posthumous STORIES FROM THE ATTIC now and it’s so solid.
In 1992, as a burgeoning young punk, I convinced the counselors at my blind summer camp to take us to Portland to see a show at the X-Ray Cafe, which was how a bunch of us blind and visually impaired teens/pre-teens wound up checking out Big Daddy Meatstraw play a bunch of shopping carts and shit
Kinda took a break from horror while I was back in school for counseling and getting my first couple years in my new job underway. Am slowly trying to come back to it. Finished this killer read by @keithrosson.bsky.social last night and am so glad good horror didn’t go anywhere while I was gone.

Short stories aren't exactly harder to write these days, but they seem harder earned. I've done a lot of them, and even more have died on the vine over the years, so when I finish one - like today - it's cool. Gonna let it marinate a few days, edit, and hopefully announce something real cool soon.
Someone recently posted a review of one of my older novels, and it was very clearly written by AI as it conflates the events of that book AND Fever House into one nonsensical review, and clearly this person didn't read either of them. Ever get the embarrassment shivers for someone you've never met?
