DelCo resident who doesn't post leftistly enough.

actually hate this chart because it was so obviously working and every attempt to keep it going was stonewalled

A line graph from Brookings titled "Child poverty hit a record low of 5.2% in 2021," showing the U.S. Supplemental Poverty Measure Child Poverty Rate (%) from 2017 to 2024.

The graph illustrates a gradual decrease from around 14% in 2017 down to under 10% in 2020, followed by a sharp drop to a low of 5.2% in 2021. The line then sharply rebounds to over 12% in 2022 and remains around 13–14% through 2023 and 2024.

New in @brookings.edu Why did consumer sentiment remain so weak even as the post-Covid economy improved? @harveymelody.bsky.social and I find that the expiration of the expanded CTC in early 2022 explains about 17% of the late-2023 sentiment gap (“vibecession”) www.brookings.edu/articles/exp...

I always forget the bizzaro world of Reddit childfree people when I search kid friendly restaurants in other cities and all the comments are like "Well if your toddler can SIT DOWN and SHUT UP and ORDER THE BEEF TAR TAR like a LOCAL" I suppose you could eat anywhere!

Really worried my son will cut me off when he's an adult for the trauma of "making him wear a diaper and pajamas to bed". At least based on the level of screaming involved in that bedtime.

This is just a middle aged divorced guy fantasy. They imagine impressing the hot 18 year old driving the snack cart at the club and getting to be the Prince Charming to her Cinderella. The vast majority of Americans marry within their economic class and marry people within 5 years of their own age.

"I want to touch on what you said: .. the economic challenges facing young people impact men and women. One hundred percent true. But this is the bottom line, and I don’t think we like to admit this: Beyoncé could work at [KFC] and marry Jay-Z. The opposite is not true." I heard the record scratch.

This isn't trans people getting special treatment. It's brining transphobic harassment policies in line with every other type of harassment. It's not harassment to refer to a gay colleague's spouse as their wife if you don't know he's gay. It's harassment to do it repeatedly once you already know.

Good. Look, if it is a genuinely honest error, most people I know, including myself, aren't going to make a fuss beyond maybe a gentle clarification first time. If people wilfully misgender trans and non-binary individuals though they absolutely should face misconduct proceedings.

Just got this email from our pediatrician. In alignment with the PA department of health, they're accelerating MMR vaccination among the youngest kids, including my 1.5 year old son, due to outbreaks in Lancaster, Lebanon, and Berks.

screenshot of email that says:
What does this mean for your child?
• Babies 6 through 11 months should get a supplemental "early" dose of the MMR vaccine. This dose is safe and provides some protection during outbreaks.
• All children (including those that got a supplemental dose) will be offered a dose of MMR at 1 year of age and a second dose at 15 months of age.
• Children older than 15 months who have not yet gotten a second dose (formerly given at 4 years of age) should get their second dose now (doses must be 28 days apart).

I have had my name on a credit card in some form or another for almost 20 years and have requested 3 chargebacks in my life. All in the last 3 years!

For August’s @bloomberg.com Businessweek—The Grift Issue!—I wrote about skyrocketing rates of credit card chargebacks, which are up 46% since 2021. It’s driven by two things: retailers behaving in scammy ways, and shoppers trying to scam them back. Gift link: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

My boss's boss's boss's middle child is an American citizen because he was born in NYC while his father was here on secondment. He pays American taxes despite living in Germany almost his entire life. When his father told me I was like that whips and all your other kids should get citizenship too.

Of the 3.6 million babies born in the US in 2023, 9% were born to unauthorized mothers. Stats here including on babies born to temporary migrant moms, 20,000 in 2023: How did "birthright citizenship" become coded as a constitutional protection that only extends to people of color?

It was really obvious what was between the lines of all the previous articles and it really sucks his victim had to spell it out because a cadre of alleged leftists were too willfully ignorant to realize what was happening.

It makes me want to scream that these women are having to go public in graphic detail about their sexual assaults because the pundit brains were willing to overlook the fact that this man is the embodiment of a walking red flag

Both Biden and Trump have visited my dad's work in the last few years and both times I learned about it on the news lol. My dad said they sent all the employees home so idk who the guys in the yellow vests in the pic are.
