What a lovely experience with the eclipse yesterday. Kid 1 loved it, kid 2 a little too young but did make plenty of shadows of their own on the paper 😅

Back when I had Twitter I used to offer free headshots for low-income authors, not sure I have much reach here but the offer is still there. London or Birmingham (although I’m in Glasgow and Edinburgh at the end of Aug and can fit in a session. Will have lights so can be indoors).
No doubt the world is on fire, but this kind of fear mongering and blatant misrepresentation of the temperature data in the chart (anomaly chart) does more harm than good. It’s so easy to verify that Alexander Bay did not reach 36.1°. The 13° above average is the kick in the teeth

Chris Baraniuk@chrisbaraniuk.com · 2mo agoRe: the reports of the French nuclear plant (Golfech) shutting down due to heat. My understanding is that, technically, this happens not because the river is too hot to cool the plant - but because raising river temperature further (with water used to cool the plant) would be against regulations.
We do that in the UK as well. Its called the Central line.

Unprecedented heat for the UK in late May, and likely to be bettered tomorrow. A rounded 35ºC temperature should not happen in May.
