A reminder that the statistical majority of the text you encounter now on the Internet is not actually meant for you as a human being reading, even if it happens to resemble legible prose. #Textpocalypse

Electric Caltrain named Nancy Pelosi being pulled by a diesel locomotive = everything’s a metaphor now.
Now that the AI overlords are *literally* lining up in Rome, seems an apt time to repost this…

Curiosity and imagination as survival imperatives, not nice-to-haves
Did not expect my main plumeria, long dormant, to make such an auspicious comeback this spring.
“AI” in the form we’re experiencing it—political, educational, and commercial forced adoption—is social engineering and ideological indoctrination at a scale and speed only the most dystopian narratives have imagined. Truly Cassandra and gaslight feelings to be witnessing and objecting in this era.
It’s been hard for me to accept this bit of Twainian wisdom, but it’s paramount. If you’re winning most of the fights you pick, you’re either picking the wrong fights or you’re picking the wrong side.
Was pretty thrilled to give early editions of Marianne Moore's Complete Poems to our graduating Science Communication cohort on Friday, where MM becomes instructive for her approaches to metaphor and revision and compilation. But the inscriptions and bookplates in these books were also the best.
