Happy World Cat Day 🐈   Cats have been making appearances in books, manuscripts and illustrations for centuries.   Here are some of our favourites from the collection... and some of our favourite attempts at cats...   Which one's your favourite?

Idag fyller jag 41. Idag är det också 81 år sedan atombomben föll över Hiroshima, en stad jag bodde i en kort tid 2001-2002. Minns känslan när jag såg Fredsmonumentet för först gången. Må det aldrig ske igen. Bild fr utställning om bombningen av Hiroshima & Nagasaki på Reformationsmuseum i Genève.

Fascinerande med ”amendurå”-argument kring hetsen mot Anders Lindberg. Tyck vad ni vill om vad han skriver – han är inte högt uppsatt medlem av Sveriges näst största parti. Att han kallar en politiker ”von Papen” är inte likvärdigt med att en politiker kallar honom ”Quisling”.

An illustrated medieval manuscript page features several individuals engaged in different activities such as walking on stilts, and two children apparently fighting, while one individual pours water over another individual's head - the latter looking fed up. I mostly write academically in English. I would guess a lot of researchers do, because of Publish or Perish. But all my notes to myself throughout the writing process are in Swedish. Aggressive Swedish. I deleted one that, roughly translated, would be “No you IDIOT. Write what you really MEAN!!!!”

A window into living conditions in 1628: Joane Bullocke, a tenant of the Fishmongers, is asking for stairs to be installed in the house she lives in because she is lame and struggles to get up the ladder to the trapdoor that leads to her room (the Company agreed to pay for the stairs).
