When I was a kid, I heard that sports were a war simulation and I went "ok that makes sense" and moved on. Now that I'm an adult I hear that on occasion and it is baffling to me. How? Why? When ever? Sounds just made up wholecloth

Since transition it has become clear to me that certain sports cultures, particularly football, actively want me to disengage. I've been fortunate in finding openly queer and feminine spaces that don't push me away, but sports have a problem with a very vocal minority
