Canadian indie app developer 🚀 Principal Software Engineer at Astera Labs in Vancouver. Canucks fan (unfortunately). Creator of Markerpad, Ambie White Noise, Nightingale REST Client, and Beeskie.

I've been using a MacBook Pro exclusively for work the past few months, and I must say it's immersive. When using Windows, there are little papercuts that make the experience jarring. Bugs in Windows itself and poor UI/UX design in Windows apps lead to a lot fo friction. With MacOS, it's seamless

The rumours of Xbox laying off Halo Studios staff and moving the Halo IP under Activision is absolute madness. Did Xbox executives just say,”Call of Duty and Halo are both shooters right? Let’s just have one team build them” What a sad ending to the Halo team.

The mass shooting in Tumbler Ridge BC was caused by ChatGPT psychosis on a minor. OpenAI admitted to history of disturbing chat from the minor, yet did nothing about it. Tumbler Ridge survivors are rightfully suing OpenAI. #canada #bc #openai www.theglobeandmail.com/gift/04e7085...

Markerpad still has a long way to catch up to Ambie when it comes to ratings, but it's on the right path. Ambie is the #1 rated and #1 best selling health & fitness app on Windows. I'm hoping to steer Markerpad towards the same level of success using everything I learned from building Ambie.

🚀 Markerpad usage is more than double since Microsoft announced they are killing off their whiteboard app for consumers, and the numbers are sticking!! Big thanks to everyone that has supported Markerpad so far. Hoping to address the flood of new feedback from everyone over the next few weeks!

So I’m learning C at Astera Labs. I work on the desktop app (in C# XAML), but the app communicates with some firmware which is in C. I’m slowly getting it, but it’s a challenge. I realize now that C# has so many niceties that has babied me for the past decade. Was I ever a real developer? 😂

It's our first Canada Day since coming back home permanently after 7 years in the US, and I'm just so grateful to be home. Grateful for our new Canadian jobs, grateful for family and friends close by, and so much more. It feels so good to be safely home. Happy Canada Day to all! 🇨🇦🎆

Some personal news, I've joined Astera Labs as a Principal Software Engineer working on Windows apps. Feeling very fortunate for the 7.5 years of experience I gained at Microsoft, and now looking forward to a new chapter in my career 🙂
