I read a lot of books and I talk about books a lot. I also edit books (developmental and copy). [www.kimcheel.com] Basically life is what happens when I put the book down. I also love my cats and my goddogs. She/her
Valentine's Day is tomorrow and I'm single for the first time in 6 years! So if any grumps wants a sunshine with a touch of trauma . . . 'sup. I'd also be a fool to overlook cinnamon rolls.
I don't think I've ever cried reading a book as much as I did reading P.S. I Hate You, by Lauren Connolly 🌶️📚💙

One thing they don't tell you about perimenopause is that you get zits in places you didn't even get when you were a teenager. I mean they don't tell you anything about perimenopause. Every day is a grab bag of bodily function nightmares.
A dev editing client who I'm still in contact with reached out to tell me her experience with a copyeditor. This man changed some words, then fixed the changes he made, then mansplained why "she" was wrong. It wasn't an isolated incident, either. I. Was. Flabbergasted.
A friend asked me how I was feeling today. This is how I'm feeling. Oh you know. Mad at the world. Mad at the cold. Mad that it won't stop snowing. But my head is feeling better.
I started listening to this book today. It's everything and nothing I expected. 🌶️📚
No wonder my damn ass head hurts. It looks like I dented the gorram wall.
I think I've been at UC for 6 hours. Just waiting to be discharged. The wait times are bananas but the people have been lovely. I can't wait to lie down and rest my sore noggin and finally eat. I think I'm going to inhale an entire pizza pie.
Had a dizzy spell, fell, and hit my head on the wall behind me. Likely not a seizure but I don't mess with head injuries anymore. Now I'm at urgent care with half of Airdrie and N Calgary. Tell me again why we're cutting health funding?
He's certainly not perfect, and he made some really disappointing decisions in his tenure as PM but my god, after hearing Trudeau last night I STG he could speak moistly anywhere he wanted with me. Canadians might not ride an orange crush wave, but they'll certainly rally against a stale cheeto.
I'm dog-sitting for people who left today for the Bahamas. I hold them personally responsible for the weather.
Just finished this absolutely adorable listen. (For those 👀 my listen speed, I'm currently off my ADHD meds because they're expensive and I'm waiting for coverage to kick in.) It makes me want to move to Alaska and find a grumpasaurus to fall in love with me. 📚💙
The rumours are true: there is an end to January. I never thought our generation would live to see the day. There will be songs sung about today.
A new insult I read this morning: "you sound vaccinated." I just . . . it tickles me. It's even better than that one guy who called me Jackie O'Lantern because he couldn't refute my facts. Or the guy who said I was ruining his family's night by - once again - his inability to refute my facts.
I hate writing copy and I am not very skilled at it. People say to me, "but you're a writer." I've also walked for like, 40 years but I'll still trip at least once a day so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. This is me avoiding writing copy. Because I hate it.
In addition to IF, I'm making more high protein meals, and stepping out of my culinary comfort zone. (I was raised by parents who thought Chili's was Mexican food 🤣🤣.) Today I made something called Spicy Chicken and Chickpea. It's good but holy shlamoley, I have no more snot left in my nose.
Just saw G.R.R.M co-authored a physics paper. That is god-tier level procrastination that I can only dream of reaching. 💙📚
Had to pump up to 2x speed because this audiobook is due back tomorrow and people are waiting so I can't renew. I guess that's what I'll be doing this weekend! 💙📚
I found the perfect gif for when I wade into the comments to call out racists and bigots.

I read White Women: What You Already Know About Your Own Racism and How to Do Better by Regina Jackson and Saira Rao last year but I think about it a lot, especially now. Here's a snap from a chapter that challenged me to do better. 💙💡📚
I finally found ADHD meds that work amazingly but the generic price is redonk. Waiting to get Blue Cross coverage before I get more. Luckily for a while off the meds, I was still jamming. Suddenly, it's like I've never taken meds at all. My room is full of squirrels. RIP productivity.
Today and just about every day, I think about this book. If you haven't read it, you should. 📚💡💙
Today I found out one of my cats sits by the door and stares at it for about 10 minutes after I leave so I'll just be over here weeping and gnashing my teeth.
Whenever I watch a show and the lead gets in 'dire trouble' and another character asks, "how will they survive?", I like to yell: "plot armour!!" I watch TV alone so only my cats think I'm a dick. I need more limited series in my life. They allow for higher stakes.
What I say to my cats whenever I leave them, "I'll be back, I love you, be good, don't be assholes." The cats in question.
